ZOOM HANDY RECORDER H2 OPERATION MANUAL Pdf Download

I have one problem: When I’m using the mic with an SD Card everything is working fine, I get a great sound! But as soon as I connect the mic to a computer as an audio interface the audio sounds terrible and like the mic overdrives even though it isn’t. Do you have an idea why that could happen? The Zoom H2n features five internal microphones that can be used to switch between different microphone patterns; X/Y, Mid-Side, and 2- or 4- channel surround. Auto-Record allows the H2n to automatically start recording when a certain level of sound is detected. As soon as an incoming signal exceeds the Start Level you've set, recording begins. There's an equivalent Auto-record Stop function, too; as soon as incoming signal drops below the Stop Level you've set, recording ends. Through the Auto Gain option, you can Select the Concert option, which is for loud settings, the Solo option, which is aimed at acoustic performances and the Meeting option, which is best used for low volume sources.

The H2's microphones, functionality, and use of standard USB and SD interfaces make it suitable both for recording high-quality sound and in many speech applications. The H2 has been cited by various oral history associations, such as Oral History Association [2] and Vermont Folklife Center [3] as an affordable option for recording narrator interviews. In mp3 mode, tested here in 320 kbps (the best), the sound is virtually perfect also. Nevertheless, during tests in 96 kHz/24 bits, I experienced some pops in the sound, giving the impression that there was a buffer issue (the typical noise). This is no doubt due to the speed of the SD memory card that comes with the device. The H2n records directly to SD cards. It supports standard SD and SDHC cards, up to 32 gigabytes. The chart below shows maximum recording time with different file formats and card sizes. And don’t forget to play around with the Mid-Side Setting and with the Decoding Plugin, you can generate some cool stuff with them! If there is no other alternative, but to place the microphone in the middle of all the band members, go with 4-channel surround, since it will be a bit more editable than 2-channel surround. Ok, now that we have the boring, yet important stuff out of the way… let’s get into the fun part! Which microphone pattern and settings to choose?

The monitor option can be set to Home and Rec, always on or always off. The home and rec option will only allow for monitoring while recording and while you are at the Home Screen. Overall, its sound is really clean and usable for recording ambiances. When the mic preamps are too high, there’s a slight hiss, which is understandable is this case. This just about covers the options under the Input menu. The next one on the list are the “Rec” settings; And that’s it! You can now use it to record, being able to change between all recording modes, changing the gain, etc.Options are basically to either set the sampling rate in the H2 to 48khz when you enter Audio I/F mode, or to dig through the Windows 10 settings for the microphone until you find the sampling rate, and set it to 44.1khz. I don't know if windows 10 will remember the settings for the next time you plug the microphone in, so I elected to just change the settings on the H2. Now I can take my virtual guitar lessons without overdriving the microphone on my Laptop. By this I mean that if the musician standing in the middle has to play a solo, by lowering the side mics a bit, you automatically make him sound more present. The problem was the sampling rate used by the Zoom H2 compared to the sampling rate that Windows 10 was expecting. When windows 10 installs the Zoom H2 as an audio interface, it sets the sampling rate in the settings at 48khz. However, the default setting for the Zoom H2 is 44.1khz. If they don't match, it won't work.
