About this deal

One of the side quests in Spider-Man 2 pits our heroes against a deranged terrorist known as The Flame. That quest line ends with Peter and The Wraith battling it out with The Flame’s goons and failing to stop the villain from executing his true plan - derailing an Oscorp train carrying a sample of the Venom symbiote. Big_Fudge It had a sizeable open world what was a first, the best web swinging ever, decent combat and some good bosses. 80% on MC and 8.7 user score, so clearly it was loved. Here's a Christmas quiz question for you: how many Spider-Man films have there been in the past 20 years? By my count, there were three directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, two directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, one animation, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and two recent outings directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland. That makes the third Watts-Holland film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, the ninth opportunity we've had to see Peter Parker in his blue and red spandex – and that's not including his appearances with The Avengers and Captain America. My overall favourite SpM Game is 'Spider-Man: The Movie 2' [GameCube] and my favourite Handheld SpM Game is the above GBA version.

Sam Raimi's Spidey sequel took everything great about the first film and improved on it considerably. In the movie, Tobey Maguire's webhead takes on the multi-tentacled Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and struggles to balance his superhero life with his private one. Despite having turned her down at the end of the first film due to his crimefighting obligations, Parker still pines after Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst). After news breaks that Ms. Watson is engaged to the handsome astronaut John Jameson, it soon becomes apparent that MJ isn't the only thing slipping from Peter's grip.Just hearing Scorpion go "Your time is running out, hahaha" and "Where ya hiding?" is iconic, but the gameplay is stiff and punishing at times. The mid-credits scene in Spider-Man 2 features a surprising and very welcome cameo appearance by Otto Octavius, who’s now imprisoned in the Raft following his defeat in the first Spider-Man game. Norman approaches his old colleague in the hope that Otto will reveal the identities of the two Spider-Men. Otto refuses, happy to see his nemesis wallowing in misery.

This doesn't seem to be a bad Spider-Man game, with some colourful and chunky 16-bit visuals and a whole lot of encounters against iconic foes. The issue for this one is that it was only released for the Super Famicom in Japan, so unfortunately a very decent Spidey game passed a lot of us by in the mid '90s. I love NintendoLife and I never suggest a correction, but team you completly overlooked another Spidey Game that came to the Wii U: Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) Spider Man Play Set.

This is a full Spider Man game. The web slinging was really excellent. I thought the game was enjoyable and got about halfway through it. In this way, the Insomniac series is more akin to Marvel’s current Spider-Man comics than it is the Spider-Verse animated movies. In the movies, Miles exists in a universe where his Peter Parker died and he’s taken over the mantle of Spidey. The Ultimate Spider-Man comics used to feature a similar arrangement, but Miles has since made the jump to the core Marvel Universe and now fights alongside the classic Peter Parker in his new home. I've always loved Spider-Man in comics, and I've seen every one of the movies - I'm massively hyped for the new movie! But games, not so exciting. Hey kids! Remember the Spider-Mobile? Y'know, the ridiculous buggy that Spider-Man would never need but drove around anyway for a while to sell toys? Well, after being driven into a river, it makes a show-stopping reappearance in the fantastically titled My Killer, The Car! But you have to remember that Spider-Man 2 set the standard for how web swinging should be like. Its physics and mechanics were replicated in the modern, Insomniac Spider-Man games because they were simply the best out of all the games.

The Miguel in question is Miguel O’Hara, better known as the futuristic hero Spider-Man 2099. We’re not sure if Delilah is based on an existing Marvel character, but her name and weirdly polygonal body shape both suggest she could be connected to Lyla, Miguel’s holographic AI assistant. In any case, could the next Spider-Man game involve time travel? The quest ends with a disguised Chameleon watching Spidey swing away and vowing to do what his brother couldn’t - kill Spider-Man. You feel that? That's your spidey senses a-tinglin'. Why? You're jonesing to play a game with a friendly neighborhood webslinger, probably.

I am genuinely surprised that Arcade's Revenge for SNES ranked as high as it did. I thought it was one of the worse games, even though I owned this one. In the previous two parts of Revenge of the Spider-Slayer, Alistair Smythe has returned with an army of cyborgs and a newly souped-up Scorpion on his side. Spider-Man and the New Avengers, including Iron Fist and Luke Cage, fight the slayers, but notice they seem to be able to predict their moves. Spidey figures that Smythe has found a way to replicate his Spider-Sense and realizes how dangerous this could be. After getting some help from Horizon Lab head Max Modell, Peter creates an electronic device to mess with the Slayers' senses and plans to detonate it remotely. It’s not 1-1, but things are where you expect them to be. Obviously we want [our New York] to be familiar, but at the end of the day, this is Marvel’s New York – there’s the Avengers tower here – so we just want to make the city fun to traverse.” We’ve gathered 15 brain-teasers for you to test your knowledge with, from his toughest enemies to his special talents. SM2 was so groundbraking for its time and its web swinging is still the best and most technical even today. While the Insomniac games are clearly the best i do think Spider-Man 2, Web of Shadows (well the PS3/360 versions) and Ultimate Spider-Man are also pretty great.

Thankfully, when you come down to street level, the PS5 difference becomes immediately apparent. Where in 2018, shopfronts and buildings felt like little more than cardboard cutouts, this time, you can peer inside individual shopfronts, each with authentically different exteriors and interiors. From a dimly lit game DVD shop – complete with authentically indecisive customers – to a homeless man swaying drunkenly outside a hipster furniture store, this Marvel-ready Manhattan feels impressively lived-in. The Insomniac universe already has two Spider-Mans, but there could be more in the near future. Spider-Man 2 features a pair of cameos that hint at the series drawing in more Spider-Verse favorites. I've only played Spiderman 1 & 2 GCN (admitedly on the PS consoles if my Swiss cheese memory serves me) and Wii's Shattered Dimensions which I actually thought were decentish at best. That's it. Love the character though, lol While PS4’s Spider-Man was no stranger to spectacle, each individual boss fight felt singular and neatly contained. It’s this gleeful sense of escalation from one jaw-dropping encounter to the next that makes Spider-Man 2 feels like a fully fledged sequel. Yet Spider-Man isn’t the only superhero that Marvel has allowed Insomniac to play with; its sister studio is working on a secretive Wolverine game. While Intihar has nothing to say about Logan’s antics, he does reveal: “There will be more Marvel Easter eggs in [Spider-Man 2] than in the first one or in Miles Morales.”

So strap on your web-shooters and dive off a skyscraper as we swing into our list of the 10 best Spider-Man video games. Let’s break down the ending to Spider-Man 2, along with the side quests that set the stage for more Spidey content down the road. From the return of Doctor Octopus to the emergence of Spidey’s greatest nemesis, this is what to expect from a Spider-Man sequel. Peter Parker Retires Big_Fudge Specifically what faults, though? Most people consider them to have excellent gameplay, graphics, and voice-acting (irregardless of them being licensed games), specifically the web-swinging in the 2nd game that holds up to this day as one of the best examples of the mechanic ever developed. They also naturally have excellent stories, having been based on such excellent movies.
