Please refer to actual gaming experience.The flagship range has always been known for its camera prowess and that’s been taken to the next level with the X90 Pro and a whopping 1-inch sensor that powers the main 50.3MP snapper. It’s a true game-changer, especially in low-light conditions, and it’s flanked by capable 50MP telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide lenses. Vivo’s X90 Pro is a premium smartphone with a high-end design to match. That includes the regular combination of a slimline aluminium frame and edge-to-edge display with two curved edges that allow the phone to sit comfortably in the palm of the hand. But flip the phone over, and you’ll find a vegan leather rear in place of the regular glass used by most high-end alternatives. That’s all well and good but where the main camera truly excels is in low light. I was very impressed with the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s low-light performance a few weeks ago, and the Vivo X90 Pro somehow takes it even further. The Vivo X90 Pro is a stunningly capable flagship smartphone, especially in the camera department. The 1-inch sensor that powers the main 50.3MP snapper is truly a game-changer, not only in well-lit conditions but low light, with the potential to capture decent shots in near-complete darkness as well as shots of the starry sky without the need for a tripod. Elsewhere, the X90 Pro has all the hardware features you'd want in a high-end phone. There's 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage as standard on the global versions, and that's more than adequate for most users. It comes with global Sub-6 5G bands, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, AptX HD audio codec, and all the radios for various GPS systems around the world. The in-screen fingerprint sensor is among the fastest of any phone I used, and the optical module isn't prone to errors.

The camera interface is similar to what you'll find on most phones these days, and you get the usual slate of toggles for switching between the various lenses, HDR, AI-assisted scene detection, and so on. The Pro mode is quite useful if you want to shoot in RAW, and there are a decent number of shooting modes, including Portrait, Panorama, Moon, Slo-mo, Food, Dual View, Astro, and more. The Vivo X90 Pro didn’t land alone in China – there was also a standard Vivo X90, which is set to hit other parts of Asia but currently nowhere else, and the Vivo X90 Pro Plus, which remains a China exclusive. Last year we crowned the Vivo X80 Pro our favourite phone camera of the year– so it’s fair to say that we’ve been a bit excited for the X90 Pro, which takes things one step further with a whopping great big one-inch camera sensor. That’s just as true when it comes to mobile gaming with the X90 Pro able to handle graphics-intensive games like Call of Duty Mobile with absolute ease. Now, the caveat here is that the 120W charging mode is disabled by default, so you'll need to go into the settings to enable it. Vivo offers the Balanced mode out of the box, and in this setting, the charge doesn't go beyond 30W. Vivo's 120W tech is mature enough that there are no issues in using it daily, but if you're worried about battery degradation, the Balanced mode is an ideal solution. It probably helps that Vivo ships the X90 Pro with 12GB of RAM by default, which helps with nippy multitasking. The 256GB storage allowance is also generous, though it’s perhaps a shame that there’s no option to upgrade this further – or expand it with a microSD card. Everywhere from the display, to the chipset, to the software experience, the X90 Pro is always good – and often great – but never the best around. This phone was always going to come down to its camera. The Vivo X80 Pro was 2022’s best camera, and it would take some doing for Vivo to exceed that – but it has.It’s admittedly a small thing that most users will overlook within days of use, but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t prefer a nice flat display. The palm rejection tech of the curved display is top notch at least, which does make it an easier pill to swallow. Cameras
