Most modern devices and computers today are fitted with the type-C port. This is how you can plug in and enjoy fast data transmission and file transfers, plus high-powered, super-fast charging for your other gadgets. Not being an electrical engineer I am unable to grasp A) why a USB-C connector cannot be wired to function regardless of orientation, and B) why this is a difficult thing to build. In other words, just because the cable can be flipped doesn't mean it has just one set of signal pins that are duplicated on the other side. It uses all the pins, all the time, with the logic in the cable (and/or the connector) figuring out which way the cable is inserted and adjusting the signals appropriately.
