Like its predecessor, the dinosaur, this unicorn was one of our happy projects. Since Jeffrey makes a living by building metal helmets to fit custom heads, he’s better than me at figuring out patterns, so we ended up working on it together. It was a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, he laughed half of the time we were making the beast. Lightly wrap yarn around it in layers of colours. We decided that each colour would only occur once, but you can make them repeat if you like. Horse Head Mosaic Pin 6/ 8/10 mm Dia. / 100 mm / 3.93 inch length - High quality Brass Knife Pins for Custom Knives and Handles Tie the long pieces of yarn in each of the holes to make a beautiful unicorn mane. This is a great way to use up leftover yarn. If you don’t have yarn try strips of crepe paper or tulle. When buying partner items like this one, your contract of sale will be with our Range Plus Partner instead of us.Needle-felting is very simple. You take a little bit of wool and work it with a needle until all the fibres intertwine and form a three-dimensional object. Working it into a piece of felted wool (or acrylic felt, for that matter!) is even easier because you have a base and you are creating a flat applique instead of a three-dimensional object. A hobby dragon was my first thought. We sure love dragons. But a dragon would be pretty similar to the dinosaur we’ve already made. To be honest, Anselm told me it was a dragon, so there was no point adding another one! That imaginary play plot had already been covered. A horse was another possibility. One needs a horse to fight a dino-dragon. But I have no experience with horses, and that makes a project less exciting. “Well, what about a magical horse?” I thought. Mark where you want the eyes on the pattern and then place the mark on both sides of the unicorn's face (so the eyes aren't crooked. Hand stitch in place. (I forgot to add the eyes at this step, so it isn't pictured. Let me say, it's a lot harder adding eyes later on). Pin the halves together inside-out, with the mane sandwiched between and with the long part pointing inward. Sew them together, leaving a small opening at the bottom to turn the unicorn right side out and stuff later. Stuffing the Unicorn Cut two ears out of white felt. First sew the fabric into the ear shape, as shown on the pattern, then sew them onto the head. Eyes & Cheeks

Use piece (D) to cut out a hole near the end of piece (E), the 3" strip, leaving roughly 2" of room. This doesn't need to be exact since you'll trim off excess later. Spruce Decorative Wooden Giraffe Wall Decoration -Giraffe Silhouette Decoration. Bears, unicorns and horses available too - Nursery decoAfter cutting the hair into the 9"x10" pieces, mark a 1/2" line on one short (9") end with a friction pen or white chalk. Then take your ruler and lay it perpendicular to the marked line, 1" off the side edge of the rectangle. Make your cut with a rotary cutter all the way up to the marked line, leaving a half inch at the top uncut. Continue on to make 10 "hairs" total in each piece.* Details: This white unicorn promises a wild ride. The stem is covered with soft fabric and colourful ribbons flutter in the mane. When pressing on the right ear, a neighing sounds three times. Now the trip can begin. Batteries included. Horn - this is one of the hardest part in the whole Instructable! Sewing circles like this is hard work. Take your time and use lots of pins. Just think, because you are taking your time here, that means you don't have to hand sew on the horn later! We’ll start with a mane. Decide how long hair in the mane should be (~4″) and cut a strip of paper this wide. The length of the strip should be equal to the overall length of the mane (~16). Choose thin paper because you’ll need to sew through several layers of it later. And that’s when the unicorn pranced though my mind. He had a rainbow mane. Definitely a rainbow mane.
