I'm only using the oil on the inside of the chassis,so it won't look filthy and collect dirt, and It doesn't seem to smell any worse than usual. Certain car brands have gained a reputation for rust, and they’re not necessarily the ones you’d expect. Pressure to cut production costs can mean car makers skimped on the corrosion protection on the cars when they were built, leading to problems later on. Clean the car or van thoroughly to eliminate as much loose dirt, mud, grease or oil on the underside as possible. Cleaning should also entail removing loose rust flakes using a wire brush. Working in sections should help.

The Liqui Molly underseal offers a shield against corrosion by creating a tough, protective film on the underbody. In fact, look in any scrapyard and you will see a surprising number of relatively modern vehicles which have succumbed to the MoT tester’s screwdriver. Behind the plastic bumpers and trim, many cars on the road today can be slowly dissolving away. But what can you, as the owner, actually do about the problem of rust? One of the few effective courses of action is to look at car underseal or other rust-proofing measures and below you’ll find our top tips on the different preventative rust treatments available. Once your car is treated, you can relax knowing you have protection. Remember to keep an eye on it though, and expect to keep the treatment topped up every few years to make sure the rust stays at bay.If you want to preserve your car and ward off the welder, it’s a good idea to invest in some underseal or other rustproofing. This is especially advisable if you live near the sea, regularly drive on rough roads or have had an advisory on an MoT for corroded components. Getting to them earlier will prevent further expensive problems down the road. Do you need car underseal? And old oil drips off, or out of the chassis via drain holes, sits on the road and causes motorcyclists to crash. I would strongly recommend setting your spray gun up and shooting some U-POL Gravitex stone chip - It's a superior product and leaves a good looking, hard wearing finish that can be painted over if required. but you'll have to work hard to get it smooth I'd try heating - the oil viscosity changes a lot with heating. Though be careful with pressure as the tins go pop much above 90psi and you'd not want to be sprayed with hot oil. Thin it a bit more maybe.

There is the option for using a professional to rust-proof your van’s underbody, and the cost for this will obviously be higher. Rust treatment follows. Here, the goal is to neutralize and prevent the rust from spreading. Rust converters will come in handy here because it serves as a primer sealant. ( View rust converters)

I doubt that would work well for engine oil. A pressurised pot would be the thing for anything viscous, and those things work by syphon (at least my shultz gun does). stone chip out of a rattle can is very thin - doesn't provide much protection but does leave a lovely satin finish. Do not paint over damaged metal that requires replacement as the underseal could cover up serious structural issues. As technology has improved significantly over the years in the reliability of automotive components, it is often the body work that leads to their ultimate demise. Professionals will use specialized tools to facilitate the rust-proofing process and will usually have access to a hydraulic lift to raise the vehicle. This will also usually use a compressor with spray gun to apply the product.

Schutz underseal is one of the top-rated products for undersealing tasks. It is famed for providing high impact protective coating to the van’s underbody.Brand new and boxed Air Operated Underbody Coating Gun. Trigger type gun comes complete with flexible hose attatchment making it ideal for use with waxoyl rustproofing products or 'SCHUTZ' cans alike. What worked for me was to use a thinner uplift tube so he suction has not as much waxoil to lift, I did this by pushing a thiner tube up the shultz tube to make it narrower, It’s also a good idea to treat the inside of box sections such as chassis rails and sills. A different type of chemical is used for this, or other underseal products can be made thinner with white spirit to make them easier to spray or inject into these inaccessible places. How to apply underseal The best treatments are more expensive but combine corrosion-inhibiting elements and rust converting chemicals in the coating. If the underside of your car is starting to corrode slightly, then these types will treat that at the same time as protecting against further corrosion.

I thought they were going to come with the conventional 360 degree lance but I only got a short normal lance with them, that only sprays in one spot, used alot of it inside any of the cavities on my subframes.Apparently you should never use used engine oil to rust proof a car - something about the oil being acidic after being in the engine. With a cheese shredder, cut the wax into the turpentine, stir until the wax has dissolved, (takes a long time; you can use very low heat (a warm room) to aid but be careful) and thin with the machine oil to a brushable / sprayable consistency. Apply liberally. You can use a hand spray bottle to get into closed-off sections if you have a small access hole. Car and van undersealing is an essential procedure for both new and used vehicles to increase their life expectancy. Selecting the best underseal for a car or van will save you time and money in the longer run. The cost for fabrication repairs is something to avoid for as long as possible
