About this deal

The TTArtisan 35mm ƒ0.95 handles very well, with its compact size and well designed aperture ring and good amount of focus throw. The TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 shows pincushion distortion with a wavy sub frequency. To correct this we would need a lens specific profile which is not available (yet).

35mm F0.95 - Fuji, please have a look at this trend 7Artisans 35mm F0.95 - Fuji, please have a look at this trend

I already have a Pentax SMC M 50 f1.4 that's excellent, so I wasn't sure getting an f1.2 was really justified. But now seeing the pretty minimal difference to f0.95 I'm second guessing whether it's worth it. Pretty much any of the Chinese lenses can do the dreamy look wide open. Thanks again! In this case I believe I am referring to optical vignetting. As in the overall rounded bokeh balls quality in out of focus areas like when taking portraits. I will only cover the really obvious alternatives in detail here, but if you ended up here by accident and you are looking for a slower 50mm lens or even an AF lens may have a look at our Guide to 50mm lenses for Sony E-mount. E-mount Chinese lens manufacturer 7Artisans has several options for the Fujifilm X mount as well as full-frame lenses for other camera brands. 7Artisans specializes in prime lenses at affordable prices relying on design clues from classic lenses from the past, namely Leica lenses. Compared to the mentioned Leica Noctilux and Voigtlander Nokton fast 50mm lenses I feel the TTArtisan lens offers great value for money. We will be looking at 100% crops from the 24mp Sony A7III and the Leica M10. Both cameras do not have an anti aliasing filter in front of the sensor. 2.1m distance (24mp Sony A7III vs 24mp Leica M10) The camera-to-lens size ratio on the X-H2S and X-Pro3 was quite ideal but do not expect an optical marvel in the TTArtisan 35mm f/0.95. It struggles wide open but I hope that the sample images also show that you can create decent results.

TTArtisan 35mm 0.95 Review - Not Just for Bokeh!

For me I have a new simple reason : for the safety of the world I do not want to buy things made in China ! At half-body portrait distance the differences are not that big. But if you focus on something farther away the Zhong Yi pulls ahead when it comes to sharpness and bokeh. I agree completely. Sold all my Fuji lenses not just because of the crap manual focus, but also because I don’t share the common wisdom that such lenses as the xf 35mm 1.4 is so wonderful. In fact compared to my various vintage lenses, as well as 7art and ttart ones, I find it to have a soulless look that gives me no positive emotions. If you haven’t yet you might also try the ttartisans 23mm 1.4. between it and the 7artisans 35mm one could spend a lifetime of photography happily. Also,I don’t understand the need for focus “aids ” turn the ring until the desired focus is achieved visually. Or does everyone have terrible, uncorrected eyesight? The most grueling test of any focusing system is photographing my kids; if I can rangefinder focus on my little moving targets when it’s past their bedtime, I can focus on anything. While I can definitely make it work with the TTArtisan 50mm F/0.95, it doesn’t come easy. The giant barrel of the lens intrudes into the 50mm frame lines of my Leica M (not a consideration with an EVF) presenting a slight challenge to framing, and moving the focus ring is a bit of a chore.Mostly because it is very easy to move out of position inadvertently and you are never really sure which aperture you are shooting at as you do not get verification in the viewfinder. At half body distance it seems to me the Zhong Yi lenses and this TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 perform very similar. Nevertheless, I would not recommend to rely on the rangefinder when using this lens at wider apertures, the depth of field is too shallow to consistently get decent results.
