Tough times don’t last tough people do is a self-help book by Robert H. Schuller. The book inspires the reader to take control over their life, know themselves and stay true to themselves in difficult times. The most effective approach to handling tough times is staying connected to God through prayer, reading Scripture, and worship. The awe-inspiring story of Daniel in the lion’s den ( Daniel 6) serves as a testament to God’s unwavering support during our trials. Despite it being written by Robert H. Schuller, the Christian pastor and theologian of the Crystal Cathedral Ministries, it doesn't pass itself off as a plain religious work. In fact, I enjoyed its systematic, self-help tone towards personal success which I think can apply to everyone of all faiths. Romans 12:12 urges us to stay hopeful, trusting God to answer our prayers instead of focusing on hardships.

Inspirational Writings of Robert H Schuller: Tough Times Never Last, but Tough People Do & Tough Minded Faith for Tender Hearted People Take inspiration from Job’s story and keep your trust in God during difficult times, knowing that tough times never last, and God’s blessings will come to those who remain steadfast in faith. Psalm 126:5-6. Anyone who has a family member, son, daughter, brother, cousin who has special needs you understand what I mean about unconditional love. You're going to have some tough times. You're going to have a lot of great times, but you're going to have some tough times, some tough days. It's not easy.

The book basically teaches you how to get out of negative thoughts about yourself. It is not about “fooling” yourself. It is about accepting the word of God and being honest with yourself. It tells you that no matter what situation you are in, things will work out for your best if you put your trust in God.

Perhaps the best thing in this book is its collection of Schuller quotes that are presented between each chapter which I personally enjoyed by simply reading through them, although they can pretty pump-up anyone's day. We have the power to make any problem better or worse. We do this when we react positively or negatively.’ Similarly, Romans 8:18 reassures us that our present sufferings cannot compare to the glory that will be revealed in us. Isaiah 54:8 further reinforces the notion that God’s affection and care for us remain constant, even if we feel isolated or abandoned during difficult periods. It is entirely up to you how you respond to your issues; either you will meet them head on and maintain your faith, or you will succumb to them. It is entirely up to you to decide how you will respond. You need to know what you want. If you don’t know what you want, it means that you haven’t figured out who you are. 7. “I must be honest with myself” Growth is the result of challenges. Growth comes from overcoming adversity. Our strengths and weaknesses are revealed by challenging situations. Against all odds, David’s unwavering faith in God led him to a triumphant victory, proving that no obstacle is insurmountable with God by our side.

Nobody will help you unless you ask for it, and even God will not help you unless you help yourself. There is not necessarily a solution for every problem; however, every problem can be managed positively.” – Robert H. Schuller. David’s story resonates deeply with the theme of trusting in God’s plan and timing during turbulent times. You need to know that even though you are having a bad time right now there is someone who loves you and will always be there for you. You need to know that even though you are facing difficulties today, this does not mean that there is no tomorrow. The special characteristic of problem is that “Nobody is free from problem. A problem free life is an illusion a mirage in the desert. It is a dangerously deceptive perception, which can mislead, blind and distract. To pursue a problem free life is to run after an elusive fantasy; it is a waste of mental and physical energies”. This verse reassures us, “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” So, remain steadfast in your faith, and witness how God transforms your struggles into blessings and brings your dreams to fruition. Always focus on those unmovable pieces in our life that really matter much. Stop worrying about everything. Anything that is nailed down to the floor will surely go flying.

Romans 15:13 encourages us to continuously pray for God’s hope and faith, allowing us to experience joy and peace through trust in Him. So, let us hold onto our faith, continue to pray, and trust God’s divine plan and timing, just as David did in his epic battle against Goliath. Don’t get bogged down by “what ifs” or “shoulds”. Use the law of attraction to attract the right things into your life! Live Small. Take time to enjoy the little things in life. Don’t allow your negative thoughts to take over your happiness and peace of mind. It builds character: Nothing builds our strength like surviving difficulty. It is just like an “ Ounce of experience is heavier than tons of theory”. Unless we face the troubled situation, we cannot build our mettle. Nothing forces us to leverage what we have, dig deep and come up with every ounce of integrity, patience and strength like a hard time.
