About this deal

When Izzy (star of The Spy Who Loved School Dinners) is asked to tell her friends some HILARIOUS and SCARY stories she knows exactly where to look: Shakespeare, the king of SUPER dramatic stuff. After learning about Macbeth (a STRONG solider who ate four bowls of porridge and twenty pieces of toast every morning) her friends want more. So Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Romeo and Juliet all get the Izzy treatment. There's blood and guts, ghosty stuff, and plenty of people wandering around in their nighties. The perfect introduction to the Bard! Wintertime, when it is really cold, I find I can't even get all the way home without needing a wee stop. Having to drop not just part of bib tights but take two layers of clothing off at least one shoulder, when it is -15, is just not on. Most people with urinary incontinence have either stress incontinence or urge incontinence. Stress incontinence When Izzy (star of the Baby Aliens series) is asked to tell her friends some exciting stories, she thinks of Macbeth - there are battles, loads of gore, excellent witches and even walking trees! Soon her friends want more, so she moves on to A Midsummer Night's Dream (a man with a donkey's head called Bottom!), Romeo and Juliet (kissing - eew!) and Hamlet (who left that skull lying about?) and now everyone wants to know more about the Bard!

problems with storing urine, such as an urgent or frequent need to pass urine or feeling like you need to go again straight after you've just been BBC Schools Radio commissioned Pamela Butchart (alongside Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Stanton) to Babies and younger children often pass urine more frequently whilst their bladder is growing and they are potty training. Some children hold their pee for long periods and overstretch their bladders. Other children get into the habit of an 'abnormal voiding pattern'. They find it hard to relax their muscles when they do sit on the toilet and this affects their ability to wee normally. The different parts of their urinary tract system stop working together as they should. This type of incontinence often occurs as part of a group of symptoms called overactive bladder syndrome, which is when the bladder muscle is more active than usual. Mixed incontinence is when you have symptoms of both stress and urge incontinence. For example, you may leak urine if you cough or sneeze, and also experience very intense urges to pass urine. Izzy’s version of Macbeth originally appeared on the BBC Radio series ‘Shakespeare Retold’, read by actress Shirley Henderson (who played Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films!). Having a wee is easier when you are relaxed rather than tense. Help your child to relax on the toilet, make it more comfortable with their feet supported on a stool. Try having music playing, reading a story together or singing a song. It’s not unreasonable to think that children should be able to use the toilets at breaktimes. After all this is how we as adults have learnt to behave. Whether permission is granted will be based on the teacher’s intuition, knowledge of the ‘ones to watch’ and the overall school policy around toilet breaks during lessons. To go or not to go? Two or three years ago I was returning from the Mildenhall rally using a considerable amount of train. However, engineering works interrupted me at Manningtree and I had to cycle to Witham for the next train. Whilst I was in a very quiet rural lane the urge took me so I stopped in a field gateway to relieve myself. At that moment, a police car appeared. I continued with the matter in hand and the officers went about their business whilst allowing me to go about mine undisturbed. The only lavatories restricted by law to the signs on the doors are in fact the 'invalid or disabled lavatories' designated only for disabled people. It is a breach of law to enter one of these if one is not disabled. If you think you might be suffering from frequent urination, your GP will discuss your medical history with you, to learn about any health issues you have and when the problem started. Continence conditions are among the most common health issues affecting children, with 1 in 12 young people aged between 5 and 19 living with a bowel or bladder condition. A third of all children struggle with constipation. We spoke to GP Dr Riccardo Di Cuffa about the signs and symptoms of frequent urination and when to visit your GP: What’s a normal amount to wee per day? It all started so reasonably. Jenny and her friends were waiting in line for empty restroom cubicles during the theatre intermission when Susan in frustration cried out "I wish I had my 'Shewee'!" If your child has been unable to wee for some hours and is getting uncomfortable, seek medical help urgently. When a child asks to go to the toilet during a lesson, should they be allowed to go? What if the repeat offender was actually struggling with a urine infection and proceeds to wet themselves?
