There are of course the T3PA Pro pedals, if you fancy another step up. The Pro pedal variant allow for even more customization by allowing you to invert the pedals. These pro pedals bring a lot to the table. They combine elements from other Thrustmaster pedals to create the best Thrustmaster pedal set to date. The option to choose between two sets of brake mod and the customization of the pedal layout make for one of the most versatile pedal sets on the market. This pedal set really should be your starting point when buying a Thrustmaster racing wheel. And you should ideally stay away from the standard two pedal set. The T3PA pedals are an improvement in every way. The T3PA pedals include a factory supplied "conical brake mod" which is intended to feel just like a load cell. Don't be fooled! This device makes the pedal feel increasingly firmer the further it is pressed, making harder to move. However, the pedal is still using a potentiometer and is still reading movement rather than force. So while the game is determining braking by how far the pedal has moved, the "conical brake mod" is preventing the pedal from moving creating a dis-proportioned amount of in-game braking relative to the force being applied to the pedal. A load cell corrects this. The load cell replaces the potentiometer and turns the pedal into a purely force-based reading. Therefore, any additional force on the pedal directly translates into a proportional amount of braking applied in the game. This leads to better control over the brakes for better trail braking resulting in better lap times. We found mounting the brake and throttle one step closer to each other. And adjusting the angle of both pedals, the best way for us to heel and toe accurately. The T3PA-PRO features 2 impressive compression springs: the resulting pressure force is adjustable according to the range of travel allocated to the springs. Users can therefore adjust to best suit their own preferences. This provides a big advantage in racing, since victory so often depends on the brake pedal’s performance. Unlike other pedals which utilize cheap load cells originally designed for use in a postal scale, the load cell in the LC3 upgrade kit is a medical-grade load cell designed to withstand much higher loads at faster response times. The load cell is designed to have an unlimited life cycle and the accompanying components are designed to be equally as robust. As we stated in the previous section, both of these pedal sets have been around for a considerable amount of time and it’s probably best to say that they’re both overperformers – but the increased quality and customizability of the Pro model does translate to better performance. This introduces progressive braking, and can be configured in a range of configurations to adjust the progression rate. The conical brake mod can add up to 70 pounds of extra resistance in to your brake pedal. You can also mount the pedals from above. Effectively, by inverting the pedal mounting, you create a set of pedals which matches a real road car. This gives ultimate immersion when driving these styles of cars, and even better throttle and pedal control in certain situations.

Thrustmaster have been making the right steps towards the ultimate pedal set for a while. The base pedals you get with some Thrustmaster wheels come with only two pedals and are just not fit for sim racing. The T3PA-PRO features 2 impressive compression springs: the resulting pressure force is adjustable according to the range of travel allocated to the springs. But Thrustmaster’s latest pedal set doesn’t stop there: it also includes two removable mods, which can be installed directly underneath the brake pedal. Users can therefore adjust the range of travel, pressure force and type of braking feel to best suit their own preferences. This provides a big advantage in racing, since victory so often depends on the brake pedal’s performance.Sim racing and motorsport has always been a great passion that I fully enjoy. The sim racing world has been going through many changes over the past few years that brings the Motorsport/Automotive and Gaming world closer than ever, and it is a great pleasure to see this happening. With the first mod (the SPRING BRAKE MOD), composed of an additional compression spring, the pressure force can be adjusted between 30 and 35 pounds. We would definitely recommend installing this rubber cone, as it dramatically increases the performance and feeling of the brake. Over time you will be able to brake more consistently and realistically, than you could without it. When you are looking to buy a Thrustmaster sim racing wheel, you will see that the main wheel bundles come with a two pedal set as standard. You do have the option to upgrade to a three pedal set as part of these bundles, which add these T3PA pedals to your bundle. The footrest features an almost industrial style metal grip plate. And quite honestly, we really dig it. It looks hefty and it isn’t as slippery as you may think from first impressions. If you have previously used the standard two pedal kit that comes with Thrustmaster wheels, these will feel familiar. The brake and throttle pedals both feel almost identical to the two pedal kit.

You can adjust where you place this rubber mod to give the brake pedal a few different sensations. You can place it towards the base of the pedal if you prefer a long brake pedal. This will give you a slight increase in resistance as you near the end of the brake travel. Thrustmaster has been in the business of making great gaming peripherals for decades. The T3PA and T3PA Pro are two of Thrustmaster’s best sim racing pedals, but which set is better? For over thirty years, Thrustmaster has been developing high-tech video game accessories designed to satisfy and entertain all types of gamers. New York City, March 18, 2015 — Thrustmaster is continuing to add to its racing product ecosystem with the launch of the stand-alone version of its high-end 100% metal, 3-pedal pedal set: the T3PA-PRO.This allows you to run a closer brake and throttle pedal for heel and toe downshifting, if that’s your style. Then there is the new conical brake mod, which is from the standard T3PA pedal set. The conical brake mod is a piece of high-density rubber, shaped like a cone. With the Pro pedals you can hinge the pedals from the top, rather than the bottom. This gives an even closer representation of a real road car. But this comes at an extra cost. The pedals themselves offer a huge amount of customization. This is possibly our favorite part of the pedals. You can adjust the spacing between each pedal by mounting the pedal plate in one of three locations.
