With the story about the dancing, I wasn’t sure how I felt about them taking the trophy/swapping it. It just seemed too far for me. I would have rather had them solve the mystery and get things fixed.

We love the change of settings and styles, the inclusion of stories with nods to classic writers like Agatha Christie, and then historical stories, such as Joanna Williams’ Ice and Fire. From the title, I was expecting 13 murder mysteries, but I didn't even get 13 mysteries. Instead I got maybe 9 mysteries (and 4 murders) and some adventures that didn't even have a mystery with a crime to solve at the heart (but had riddles or just strange events instead.) Maybe a different title and a better description of the stories would have helped. Sadly this fell short on both mystery and Christmas spirit.Some of these stories didn't feel like.mysteries at all and a lot of them had little or no relevance to Christmas.In this delightful book we get 13 short stories by various authors. There is mystery, simple and harder, there is murder, stabs and poison. Most of the stories take place in the now with a few exceptions (and one didn’t work). I loved how diverse the stories were featuring characters from all colours, with various reps, with LGBT feelings or parents, and more. It is such a delight and it made me smile. I loved the various mysteries as well, two featuring my favourite setting… snowed inn, um, in. XD It was great how some of the mysteries were solved within a heartbeat while others took a tad longer. I do have to specify that normally I am not the kind of girl who likes the easily solved ones or where the character just magically knows, but it worked in this one. It was just right. Serena lives in Walsall with her family. This was SO difficult not to read but I really wanted to save this boy for Christmas. And I managed to do that, but I had to hold myself in many a time. Written by a variety of authors that are diverse and fairly new and it was such a riot. I don’t normally like short stories as they are often not long enough for me to get my teeth into. However, in this case, I was gripped by a lot of the stories. Contrary to the title, they are not all murder mysteries but mysteries in general. When Ali and Tulip's surgeon mum starts acting strangely, it's up to the Double Detectives to solve the mystery.
