All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. I think just about everyone here has heard of The Primal Hunter. It's one of the largest novels on RoyalRoad, but I managed to hold off on reading it until it came out on Kindle Unlimited. It is not the fault of the author, but the genre is to blame here. This type of story requires a messiah type of character and it is very hard to get it right. For example is the character too overpowered - it gets boring, is the character weak - even worse. Is he a lonesome wulf - boring; no social interaction - psycho; has he a group - I just want to see mr. messiah, the others just waste time and so on. Sometimes, something that should be utterly generic is able to surpass all expectations and be something excellent. Usually, this is either because the story really shows off what can be done in the confines of the genre, or because everything is done with a level of polish and skill that defies the genre. It's almost as if Jake was meant to live in the System rather than earth. It gives a very interesting dynamic where the MC isn't exactly an antihero, but he's absolutely not a typical good guy.

Cannot be denounced or retracted. everything is written very good from what Little I could read, the only thing bothering me is that mc is too seperate from others (there is being antisocial and then there is a Charakter just being isolated in a way that just doesnt feel natural!)
