C. J. Tudor, author of A Sliver of Darkness A scarily plausible alternative future with a truly twisted narrative. Tensely plotted and terrifyingly imagined - it’ll put you off marriage and modern technology for life! Brilliant writing, John Marrs has a sure winner with this,it is one of the best books I have ever read whew baby! there are few things i love (and tbh get scared of😂) more than John Marrs’ dystopian thrillers!!

Britain. The near future. A right-wing government believes it has the answer to society’s ills – the Sanctity of Marriage Act, which actively encourages marriage as the norm, punishing those who choose to remain single. This was hilarious in parts, if you were to analyse your own relationship in this way:) it was terrifying in other places and completely addictive. Other novels have contemplated situations where arbitrary rules were set by government but this was an entirely unique take on that premise. Brilliant! 4.5* Britain. The near-future. A right-wing government believes it has the answer to society’s ills—the Sanctity of Marriage Act, which actively encourages marriage as the norm, punishing those who choose to remain single. One of these rules includes having a device called The Audite in your home which listens to everything you say and decides if your marriage needs outside help. The interventions come in stages and if the goverment think your marriage is in trouble they send in the professionals (Marital First Responders) to help save or dissolve your marriage. THE MARRIAGE ACT really makes you think and is soooo entertaining. it follows four couples as they deal with the futuristic UK laws that incentivize people who get married. think tax breaks, car/home upgrades, better health care, etc… but only if they allow a listening device into their home. and let me tell you… this device catches EVERYTHING. and if you aren’t being a nice, perfect spouse, a relationship responder puts you on a watch list. and it can get MESSY 🫢 But four couples are about to discover just how impossible relationships can be when the government is monitoring every aspect of our personal lives, monitoring every word, every minor disagreement . . . and will use every tool in its arsenal to ensure everyone will love, honour and obey.

From the bestselling author of THE ONE, now an eight part NETFLIX series. Set in the same world as THE ONE, THE MARRIAGE ACT is a dark, high concept thriller. Britain. The near-future. After all, AI doesn’t have a sense of humor, and it cannot feel empathy or loneliness. The Priest’s Wife – A G Rivett | Blog Tour Extract | #ThePriestsWife @bryn.glas.books @RichardsonHelen

Four couples are presented to us and as we read of their relationships, we find that perfection might not come through a DNA match and once the government gets involved, we find that safeguards they put onto couples through listening to them at various times of the day, alerting them to their marriage becoming a problem where a counselor is assigned to them and some of these so called counselors have their own interests in mind.Set in a near-future Britain where automated driverless cars have replaced traditional vehicles, this enjoyable, if flawed, techno-thriller from Marrs (The One) plunges eight people into a Continue reading » The story in The Marriage Act revolves around a couple of people who give the reader a look into how the world has changed. It's not only the marriage as such, it is also the laws that dictate how and where you can live, and if the marriage fails, what the consequences are. From the bestselling author of The One, now an eight-part NETFLIX series. Set in the same world as The One, The Marriage Act is a dark, high-concept thriller. It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of John Marr’s writing and that I have followed his career for years as a reader and friend, so when he asked me to read his latest book The Marriage Act prior to final edits and proofing as usual I jumped with joy and said “Yes, please!”.
