It’s stunningly beautiful, with rolling hills, pretty lakes and some of the best restaurants in the country. If we were going to recommend a few places to visit, we’d suggest staying near Ullswater (perhaps in Pooley Bridge) then enjoying the hiking and cycling trails in the region, as well as catching the Ullswater Steamer across the lake.
