Really enjoyed this. The highs and lows of life are delivered in a relatable story of three friends from different walks of life. Book Blog Tour & Giveaway: Pringle Prawn by Michael Scott Clifton | Boys' Mom Reads! on Pringle Prawn by Michael Scott Clifton – Review and Giveaway This book is beautifully written with vivid descriptions and stunning surroundings I was absolutely captivated throughout. The cover and the synopsis work perfectly with the storyline. I guess its a ‘coming of age’ book but for the older gen and if it’s your kind of read you will be in stitches and love it, I really enjoyed it The next best thing to a pampering weekend with your best friends, Caroline James’ The Spa Break should be on every woman’s must-buy list this summer!

Fabulous to read...It's about a girls' weekend with characters in their 60s and determined to have a good time' Woman & Home Caroline James certainly knows how to give her readers an escapist and enjoyable treat that will inspire them not to let their inhibitions get in the way of living their lives to the full. This gorgeous manor, surrounded by fields of sunflowers, really caught my eye and will be the fictional setting for the story. I just couldn't wait for it to end, and forced myself to read on, naively hoping for something better. Now two questions remain unanswered: What follows is a lovely story of making new friends, being your true self for the first time in your life and letting go of all your insecurities and loving life.

I so enjoyed meeting Serena, Bridgette, Emily and Marjory. It’s absolutely wonderful to encounter women in their sixties with all their attendant anxieties, routines and habits amassed over the years so that they feel much more real and relatable than so many thirty somethings in books. As The Spa Break allows them to discover sexual, emotional, artistic and professional creativity, there’s a joie de vivre that makes the reader feel they can achieve what they want too. It’s as if Caroline James is giving her readers the chance to be reminded of who they are and who they might like to be every bit as much as the four ladies in the book. That’s not to say that everything runs smoothly, but the bumps along the way add authenticity and the immense pleasure in reading The Spa Break. Bridgette’s big birthday is nearing and she wishes to celebrate in style alongside her three best friends, Serena, Marjory and Emily. The girls have booked a mini-break at a local spa as each is in desperately in need of rest and recuperation away from their demanding families/partners/daily life. Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Caroline James, One More Chapter Publishing and Rachel's Random resources Tours. A stunning story of friendship, romance, second chances and being true to yourself. I absolutely love, love, LOVED it!!

love the journey these four women go on, they arrive at the spa all set for a weekend of pampering and being away from their claustrophobic lives, away from the control freaks of relatives, a weekend of ‘me time’ with friends and a few glasses of prosecco. It did get me wondering if such a normal and pretty simple plot if it could keep me hooked throughout a full-length book, but then things start happening and I will hold my hands up and admit I was wrong it did keep my attention Despite being set at Christmas, this novel is the perfect beach read. (After all, it’s always summer in the Caribbean!) It’s substantive enough to be satisfying, and light enough to zip through in a weekend. Great read! Friendship is the glue that binds the women together and keeps them grounded. It is clear that they just want each other to be happy. You find out some surprising secrets that at least one of them is hiding. Of the three , it seems that Jane changes the most as she gains confidence and loses her self consciousness. With some laugh out loud moments and lively characters, this proves to be a light hearted read and ideal for an escapist holiday read. A laugh out loud, naughty, enlightening heart-warming story about friendship and discovery’ Yours Magazine Caroline writes quite beautifully - great descriptions, vividly drawn characters, sparkling humour, a touch of real sadness - this book was the perfect escape."This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Jane Bellwood, Anne Amberley and Kath Taylor. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything. A l augh out loud, naughty, enlightening heart-warming story about friendship and discovery’ Yours Magazine

The operating table had been draped in protective material designed to collect any leaking fluids or stray bits of flesh, and the lighting had been adjusted to illuminate the field with no confusing shadows. Tlanchana Leaving behind the heartache, guilt and disappointment of their real lives, three friends decide that now they’re in their sixties, it’s time they finally did something for themselves! Swapping Christmas turkeys and BBC reruns for crystal waters, white sandy beaches and smooth golden rum, Anne, Jane and Kath throw caution (and tradition) to the wind as they set sail on a luxury two-week Christmas cruise around the Caribbean. I loved the warmth and humour between the friends. The book was so good and I loved there were no cliques and predictable plot turns.’ Dawn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One complaint I had while reading is that while I understand Marjory is heavier than the other women, I don’t think every description of her needed to remind the reader of that. A few examples -> “Plopped Her plump bottom” “her ample bottom wriggled” “she patted her ample bottom” It was too repetitive for me.I recently had the pleasure of reading “The Cruise” by Caroline James, and I must say that it was a lovely read. This novel tells the story of three extraordinary women, all of whom are in their 60s and refuse to let age hinder their zest for life. The book is a perfect fit for this blog, The Grey Brunette, as it shows us that age is just a number, and it is never too late to pursue your dreams and enjoy life to the fullest!
