About this deal

I absolutely loved this second book from Tracy Whitwell and think the writing is better if possible!! Totally enjoyed and will be recommending far and wide!

Following Tanz on her journey of discovering she is a medium we are treated to a cosy, funny and fast paced read full of lively characters, swearing and spirits (of all types.)

I did enjoy reading the book but I would have liked a bit more to the story and a little more action.

Actress Tanz is an accidental but talented medium and it’s while she’s filming scenes for a local tv series, that she becomes reluctantly embroiled in solving a century old murder that’s spooky, spiritual and at times scary. The emotional support she offered troubled fellow actress Caroline, who had recently been treating her as a second class citizen, was very endearing and truly brought a tear to my eye. The episode where Tanz gets to know the rest of the acting team is very funny. She struggles with her costume, her makeup and most of all the behaviour of bitchy Caroline. Because Whitwell is a trained actor, her descriptions of the less glamorous side of the profession are realistic. The fact that Tanz leads a chaotic lifestyle adds to the humour. This is Book 2 in the Accidental Medium series of mysteries featuring Tanz, a once-successful TV actress from Gateshead now living in London. In the first book Tanz discovered that she had the ability to communicate with the corporeally challenged. Cue a job and a change of scenery with a host of new quirky characters, Tanz starts flexing some spiritual muscle and encounters a malevolent spirit that may just be her undoing.

I really enjoyed this book, Tanz is such a great character and there are a lot of laugh out loud moments, as well as some spooky ones, in this book.

I absolutely loved this book. I needed to have a get lost in a book moment or two, so I bought the previous book The Accidental Medium. If you’re wondering, you can read them as standalone books, but they are so humorous and interesting, for the sheer escapism I’d say buy the books! There’s a little bit of everything in them. After an interesting twelve years messing about in front of the camera and traveling the world, Tracy discovered she still loved writing and completed her first full length play KABOOM! A son, many stage plays, screenplays and a music video followed, until 2012 when she realized she was finally ready to do the one thing she’d longed to do since she was six. She wrote her first novel, The Accidental Medium – a crime/horror/comedy tale about an alcohol-soaked, gobby, thrill-seeking actress who talks to ghosts. (Who knows where the inspiration came from . . .) After an interesting twelve years messing about in front of the camera and traveling the world though, Tracy discovered she still loved writing and completed her first full length play 'KABOOM!!!'. A son, many stageplays, screenplays and a music video followed until 2012 when she realised she was finally ready to do the thing she'd longed to do since she was six. She wrote her first novel. A crime/horror/comedy tale about an alcohol-soaked, gobby, thrill-seeking actress who talks to ghosts. (Who knows where the inspiration came from, it's almost like she based it on her own ridiculous life.) Fantastic ghostly sleuth story, the second in a set but would read well as a stand alone book! It’s hilarious, with the most brilliant characters, authentic ghostly happenings, and addictive reading, this one is hard to put down.

Actress/medium, ghostbuster, intuitive, humour and the human touch. I cried when I read Caroline’s leaving and George. You also can’t help but feel for Tanz as she’s torn between her old and new ways of life. I’d recommend you take yourself off and enjoy the two books out so far. I loved her new and old friends. Frank I want to hug. These are different, fun and so full of wit I recommend them highly. This is a book full of heart and how life can change, be taken away, or just become massively different whatever we want. I’d read it with a box of tissues and whatever your favourite drink is by your side, just for emotional support. I really enjoyed this book and found the characters to be brilliant. Tanz is hysterical and I think everyone will find her entertaining and want to read more about her, I know I do! There are some emotional bits in the story and some creepy bits but most of all it's fun and you won’t want to put it down.

The constant ‘making homosexuality a personality trait’ thing, putting all gay people into a box and stereotyping them. In this second outing Tanz accepts a paid acting job on a TV series filming in her hometown of Newcastle. However, it’s not long until Tanz finds herself haunted by visions of the mysterious Gin Palace. She begins to piece together details of a terrible tragedy that took place there. However, it becomes clear that the Gin Palace is guarded by a malignant spirit. No further details to avoid spoilers. The story revolves around Tanz, who's mostly failing to get work in the acting business, so she takes a job working the till at the Mystery Pot, a shop that sells crystals and similar ephemera and specialises in readings by two Mediums - Sheila and Martin. However, Tanz suddenly discovers that she, too, has some psychic abilities. Caroline Smailes on The Accidental Medium Spooky and hilarious and brimming with oddball characters, I love this book! This story grabbed me immediately, it didn't take me an blink to get attached to the protagonist and immerse myself in the story that she had to buy. Scenes that repeat alot, or are unnecessary to the main plot, unnecessarily dragged out scenes, or scenes that are way too short.
