My AVR is a Denon AVR-X8500H, and I also have REW with a miniDSP UMIK 1, for hands-on measurements. The latter is a good tool kit for both verifying what room correction (like Audyssey on the Denon) do, or else for tuning the sub directly using the tools in the SVS App. The latter approach is especially relevant for 2-channel music lovers, many of whom would strongly benefit from adding a subwoofer to systems that typically do not offer room correction. Similarly, powered speaker often offer a subwoofer output, but no way to fine tune the integration. With SVS you can get very precise with how your speakers and sub(s) interact.Proprietary injection-molded extreme-excursion surround ensures flawless pistonic motion for pinpoint control and accuracy without distortion at the highest drive levels. Having owned the 1000 pro for a few weeks, I wouldn't look at the old 1000 unless it was a lot less.... And even then. It's really nice being able at access it's controls via BT. Setting phase is much easier and there are 3 slots for you to set 3 custom presets. You can instantly change the subs personality.

Dual ferrite magnet motor assembly with extended aluminum polepiece produces effortless on-demand driving-force for subtle and over-the-top bass thrills. The SVS SB-1000 provides sufficient output to feel the bass for listening to music. But the bass will not feel much expressive and powerful when you will be watching movies. If you want to use the subwoofer for watching the video, it’s good to arrange a mini- theater in the room, 2.1 for Blu- ray movies, for example.Variable port tuning modes with customized frequency response curves for “Standard” and “Sealed” allow tuning for maximum output or deep bass extension and transient speed. In actual use (movies, music, video games) it turns out the SB-1000 Pro truly does offer everything I need for just about anything I’d dare do in my apartment. Now, if I lived in a standalone house and had a dedicated theater of course I’d seek more output than this one sub offers. And one does have to accept that while it digs deep, it’s not some infrasonic beast that simulates earthquakes through pulsed barometric pressure changes. But it is a sub that sounds tight through the audible spectrum, and most definitely shows some “gusto” when given the chance to shine, like with action movies and all the thuds and crunches and bangs that go with it. It handles all that with ease at normal, or even a bit above normal listening levels. You can set the sub to On (which is the default), Auto (which means it comes on when there's a signal) or use the control trigger. Turn the low pass filter on or off depending on whether or not you're using a Low Frequency Effect (LFE) channel.
