About this deal

The NCX seatpost features a patented parallelogram design that Suntour claims works well for small bump compliance. The post has a total of 50mm travel and was designed with low maintenance and long term durability in mind. The ideal companion for any hard tail mountain bike or gravel bike, for those rides that last 4 hours plus! If you like running highly inflated 700c tyres then this is a must… At half the weight (~300 grams) and half the travel (20mm) of most squishy posts, it performs closer to the best carbon seatposts available.

We offer two different shapes of aerobar extensions: L-Bends and S-Bends. The L-Bends (or ski-bends) tend to place your wrists in a more ergonomic, comfortable position that's great for long rides and triathlons. The S-Bends let you pull against the extensions effectively for intense time-trial efforts. Not sure which one is best for you? We generally recommend the L-Bend extensions if you're on the fence. Krzysztof over at GravelBikes.cc has been using his smartphone with a vibration meter app to compare the vibration absorption of different bike components on both a bumpy forest trail and fast gravel road. If smooth roads are your thing, you’ll likely find spring seatposts a bit too active. This brings me to elastomers… The Cane Creek Thudbuster uses an elastomer to provide more damping than a coil spring. It’s great if you have a ‘sporty’ ride position like me, or if you mostly ride smoother roads. Given it only has 20mm of travel, you will have to compromise on the rougher roads, but I still find it offers a significant comfort improvement over a regular post. Plus it doesn’t bounce, it’s light and it’s elegant.I wanted to maintain the same riding position when using the drop bars as before, so I chose not to lower my bars when installing the post. My elbow pads are already slammed down as low as they can go on the bars (as shown in the ‘Inline Extension Mounting’ version in the image on the right), so I couldn’t lower my aerobar position as some people might choose to do to take full advantage of having a more forwards saddle position. Here’s our full list of suspension seatposts. As with our other Gear Index lists, find the ones we’ve tested at the top, marked with a “T” icon. So, you should expect to spend a few more minutes getting your preferred saddle angle right before hitting the road.

Because my shoulders remained at the same height, changing the seatpost has not directly affected my aerodynamics. However, the improved comfort and sustainability of using the aerobar position allows me to stay in that position for longer and so it yields indirect aerodynamic gains. My bike has a 25.4mm seatpost. Do you have a shim for that size? The short answer is no. Both of our seatposts are only available in 27.2mm diameter. Since that is larger than 25.4mm, it is not possible to use a shim to adapt the seatpost to your frame. When you pedal, your body movements create forces that can activate the suspension. This bob will occur to varying degrees depending on the seatpost model and setup. Aerobars] Should I choose L-Bend or S-Bend extensions? If you don't have any previous experience using aerobars, we typically recommend the L-Bend aerobars because they put your wrists and arms in a more comfortable, ergonomic position. This is usually a better fit for triathletes and long-distance riders. If you're planning on using the aerobars for shorter, higher-intensity efforts like a time-trial, then the S-Bend shape can give you slightly more leverage to put out maximal power. But interestingly, data recently collected by the University of Exeter (England) suggests that once the seatpost is installed on a bike, it may not reduce vibration exposure.
