About this deal

An automatic bleeding valve or air release valve (ARV) is a plumbing valve used to automatically release trapped air from a heating system. The standard radiator tapping size for Panel Radiators and Towel Radiators (80% of market) is the ½” BSP tapping. BSP (British Standard Pipe) plumbing thread allows a ½” tube to pass inside the thread which approximately has a 20.8 mm outside thread on it. The inside is around 18.6 mm and inside that size a ½” 12.7mm pipe will pass. It could be hydrogen from galvanic corrosion, or it could be air. Vent some of the 'air' into an inverted glass and try to light it. If hydrogen it will accumulate in the upside-down glass, ignite with a pop and burn for a few seconds.

After all these steps, your repair should now be successful. If there are any strange behaviors, repeat this guide or continue your troubleshooting. BSP is approximately 14.5mm. If you use the ¼” BSP thread for your radiator, then it will need PTFE tape fitted on the outside of the bush. The Micro Barlo fits ‘Roll-Top’ radiators. These have a rolled over steel smooth top to the radiator panel. The left and right edges are welded seams. One model has the bleed pin facing to the wall and on a double panel a second bleed pin also faces outwards.Yes, provided the temperature of the piping allows the valve to operate at 35°C for the Hygroseal™ Autovents. 14) Can the valves work on negative pressure systems? Yes. Fitting the Autovent should reduce the need for corrosion inhibitors, but we do recommend their use because corrosion leads to further gas collecting in the radiators. 11) Can leak-stop products be used with the Autovent?

Now when the car front is raised, it’s time to fill your coolant as much as possible. If your engine has air bleed valves, open them simultaneously as you are adding the coolant. Close them when coolant is flowing out from them. If the valve body is filled with water, the float moves upwards and closes the valve. If air collects in the valve body, the waterline lowers, as does the float, and the valve opens to release it. [4] To give more sealing force on the valve, the float generally works the valve through a lever. A greater movement of the float gives a shorter, but more forceful, movement of the valve. This lever mechanism may be simply, almost crudely, made of a pressed steel strip which acts as a bending hinge. [5] Some cars have one or more air bleed valves to get the air out from the system, and some cars don’t have this air bleed valve, which makes it a lot more difficult. The first step in this guide is to make sure your anti-freeze is ready. You should always use the correct coolant that is required by your manufacturer. The wrong type of coolant could damage your engine! This guide should answer most questions asked regarding the Aladdin Autovents. 1) How do I find the correct sized Aladdin Autovent valve for my radiator? In a closed heating system though, it has no other means of escape and builds up. An air bubble trapped within a radiator means that no hot water circulates in the upper part and so the heating power of the radiator is reduced. If air is trapped within the boiler this may cause pump cavitation or boiling and overheating within the heat exchanger. On a Closed, pressurised system: After the air absorbed in the water has separated, the best early indicator of a leak is a drop in pressure of the system. An Autovent should, if anything, lead to a faster drop in pressure so an even earlier indication of a leak. Construction is of the usual cast brass housing for plumbing parts, with a threaded connection to the pipework at the base. The top has a small outlet, usually hidden beneath a plastic dust cap. Internally there is a large hollow body, normally filled with water, and containing a float valve. The valve must always be installed vertically, usually at the top of a short vertical pipe.
