This costume took me about 16+ hours to complete, BUT that’s because I did templates and trial runs before I made parts of the costume. This costume could be less involved or more involved depending on how many hours you want to dedicate to it. From the ideas I’ve gathered the average costume takes about a weekend or two of dedicating to it. I made this costume over the span of 2 months. Don’t freak out just yet – I didn’t work on the costume every weekend or every week even. I did lots of research and trial runs to make sure what I was using was how I wanted it to turn out. Hopefully, this tutorial will significantly shorten the time you have to dedicate to your child’s costume! 🙂 Who wouldn’t want an excuse on Halloween to dress up like an indestructible, crazed, quirky, screaming minion, who doesn’t say much and definitely doesn’t play well with others? Despicable Me Evil Minion – BAAH!

I cut out an M for El Macho with my cutter and ironed it on the costume, then we used buttons and glued them to the straps of the overalls to make it appear more realistic. We also went ahead and added the teeth. Just a word of advice – use white craft foam here. We started with white felt, but I hated how the teeth wouldn’t stay up, so I ended up ripping out the felt when we were finished with the costume and added the white craft foam teeth. My Thoughts: Definitely the hardest, but best looking costume I’ve researched. Most time consuming. Plenty of room for a mini fan for air. Never used resin before – exploring new waters??? Wonderfully made! Fast too! I’m constantly amazed! Purple minions are my ultimate fave minion so this hat is just utter love! I am also so grateful that I could add more teeth to him too! Cause you know...their teeth are one of their “best features”... ;-) Love it!!

Then Illumination Entertainment came out with a new minion—the crazy, screaming, mutant purple ones (the evil minions) for Despicable Me 2. What else can you say but, BAAAHHH!
