About this deal

So this woman read the guidelines and when her GP suggested more blood tests she was able to say, “Look, I think I meet the criteria, this is what the NICE guidelines say.” And because of that she was just referred to a menopause clinic. And I will link to the NICE guidelines in the show notes so that you can read them too and perhaps take them into your appointments if you’re having any discussions with GPs or other healthcare professionals. Woah, this book is useful! I will be returning to this a lot, working on the cycle strategy and heightening my awareness of my cycle, but I am sure this will stay a five star read for me.

Short review --> "There are a lot of issues with this book, but regardless every single menstruator should read it: it sets a baseline for knowledge that's gatekept, particularly around hormones and irregular period cycles." Moving on, maybe you’ve got some sass going on. Maybe you’re feeling a bit flirtatious. Again, this all helps with the typical human mating strategy. Our behavior is helping us to take advantage of the fertile window in the cycle when conception is possible. Do you truly believe in yourself at all times in all circumstances? Relying solely on self-belief that comes from the good times is limiting, like building a sandcastle by the water’s edge. It might stand tall and proud for a little while, but it is vulnerable to the next wave that comes in, and it can crumble at any time. True self-belief is built regardless of what’s happening with the weather and the tide, and can’t be affected by external circumstances.Maisie Hill approaches the subject with love, care, and tenderness. And sometimes that's what we need. I will openly admit I cried my eyes out in the first chapter. I was in a bad place with my periods before I started this book and I needed to feel like

There are portions of this book, like the first section, which provide a genuinely helpful insight into how our cycles work from a biological perspective. I did learn a lot about my body. I have walked down the aisle three times. This is true. I have been married three times, to two people. Neither of which I’m currently in a relationship or married to. Let’s save that for maybe never. Maisie Hill helps you understand the changes in your body and psyche during the lead-up to menopause and how to handle symptoms. * Top Sante * Then there’s the toll of all the emotional labour and unpaid work that you’re probably doing, the years of people pleasing, of saying yes when you really meant no, of hustling your way through life trying to succeed and achieve, often skipping meals in the process. I know that some of you will be in the early stages of perimenopause and trying to conceive. And thinking about it, one of my clients has just started using progesterone to improve her perimenopausal symptoms. And her GP actually cautioned her that her fertility could increase, so, to be careful and use contraception.Sleep is another big factor in hormonal health. Just one night of bad sleep can mess with your blood sugar and raise levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which in turn suppresses the production of estrogen and progesterone. To prevent this, aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night.
