Marking the first original release from the Dance (With U) hitmaker in over a decade, the LP also features the single Future Love and is due later this month. It’s preceded by the eighties-inspired funk single Future Love, with Lemar sharing: “With this new album, I wanted to make something for anyone who ever bought [debut album] ‘Dedicated’, as this year is 20 years since its release. It’s more uptempo, it’s got that soulful feel, it’s a bit looser, a bit Chaka Khan. A bit Dance (With U)… it’s got that kind of energy to it.” It used to be enough on TV music shows just to sing. Now you need to be able to skate and possibly dress up as a toaster… I had recorded only one song but I called him so much he just said, ‘OK, let’s do it. You’re irritating me now.’ I went down and performed, and it was a really good reception, so word got around. Along with Take Care and closing number Where Do We Get Off?, it’s one of the more poignant moments, highlighting Lemar’s versatility and the power in his vocals, which shine bright on Glorious! – the second on the record and a complete U-turn, which opens with a striking falsetto and features vocal contributions from singer and songwriter extraordinaire Jessica Agombar.
