About this deal

However, as I mentioned above, the real complicating factor in how the JBL Quantum 800 sounds are the surround sound options. Both the QuantumSURROUND and DTS:X 2.0 settings noticeably alter the audio profile of the headset, and not always in flattering ways. Turning on either setting means two things to varying degrees: mids get less emphasis, and everything else gets boosted, in slightly odd ways. With the DTS setting, it’s a little less noticeable—everything seems louder, for sure, but otherwise sounds normal. The accompanying software has also been a huge issue. It quite often doesn't even recognize when my headset is on and connected to my computer, and can't remember my spatial sound settings so often I've given up on trying to keep the 7.1 surround sound on. JBL kindly sent me down a pair of their Quantum 800 gaming headsets recently. After the niggle I had with the cable on the Quantum One, I was looking forward to this wireless headset very much. JBL Quantum 800 – Wireless Freedom! JBL QuantumSURROUND works with every game, but the experience is better when your game outputs in surround sound. If your game outputs only 2-channel audio, using JBL QuantumSURROUND will sound like a pair of studio monitors in front of you. You’ll be able to hear the reflections of the sound in the room, but as with any stereo setup, you won’t have any discrete sound sources behind you. With a full 7.1 mix, you’ll be able to hear and locate sounds behind and above you. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. I bought 3 headset. The Steelseries Arctis 7+, the Turtle beach stealth 700, and this JBL quantum 800. I've had the first two for about 2 weeks and i wanted a good headset with the same features as the Turtle beach 700. Specifically simultaneously Bluetooth and wireless USB connection use. If the Turtle Beaches weren't so notoriously flimsy with deceptive solidity i would have kept those. So ultimately it is between this 800 and arctis 7+ and i am basically set on keeping these after a few days.Sound: Again, it's good, not great. It's fairly balanced, a wee bit low end heavy but nothing overbearing. The software has its own EQ built in to change profiles to your liking. I thought it sounded overall good, and have nothing to complain about. It's not tinny like other headsets - and has a reasonably full sound.

It's finally cumulated in the right earphone outright breaking off from the support band when I tried to put the headphones on today. The top padding has also come loose.Stay one step ahead of the competition. The JBL Quantum 800 headset gives you the edge with accurate spatial audio positioning, lossless 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth dual-wireless capability, Active Noise Cancelling, memory-foam comfort, and up to 14-hour battery life. Designed for total immersion, JBL QuantumSOUND Signature gives you a true audio advantage in battle. The microphone delivers clear multiplayer interactions, with a DISCORD-certified game-chat system, also compatible with TeamSpeak, and more. An ergonomic design with leather-wrapped, memory foam cushions keeps you comfortable for hours. The JBL Quantum 800 headset helps you level up, whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the game. The JBL Quantum 800 gaming headset performs very well with the sound and mic quality being both clear and rich. It is a shame that the mic boom arm seems a little flimsy and that there is no wireless charging. However, with those two minor details aside they are not detrimental to the overall product if used correctly. Memory foam ear cushions on the JBL Quantum 800 headset are covered in soft leather, providing comfort for marathon sessions, plus 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 connection for multi-platform gaming The Quantum 800’s come with their own dongle using 2.4GHz across the airways. If you have Bluetooth 5.0 then you can also utilise the set’s connection in this way. Unfortunately, you will lose a few of the features that you will only find on the QuantumENGINE PC app. These are features such as adjusting mic settings, EQ, RGB lighting, etc.

Oh and the mic does not work with Bluetooth. I read people using it on Bluetooth and tbat being their main use, but apparently mine doesn't. Could be a dud. Mediocre battery life: 14 hours is enough for me, as I can charge overnight and am rarely playing 14 hours a day - that being said, it's not as good as competitors There was a software update and it broke my headphones, they no longer power-on waiting for support as I no longer have working headphones...

When it worked right, it was the best headset I've ever owned. But the downsides are are too great for me to ignore anymore... Unbeknown to me, my wife had been talking to me and as I had not responded, decided to put her face to the side of mine. You know in those horror movies when there isn’t something there, and then there is. Yes, I screamed, and it was met with hysterics from both my wife and the TC crew who were on the other end of the voice chat! I certainly needed a few minutes after that! I have had constant issues with the headset dropping Bluetooth and wireless connection when I'm sitting or standing less than 10ft away. Verdict- As it is my first JBL item and as a hardcore gamer I'd like to think this is a fantastic piece of equipment... My only issue is I'm not sure if one of the speakers is having issues at max volume as it sounds a little shaky. Still overall love the design but a bit wonky with the microphone especially after it bends over time and loses its original

The PC hub software is better than the arctis software in my opinion. Has all the same options plus a little more like saving more than 1 custom EQ. The JBL quantum does not work with any JBL mobile apps unfortunately. And unlike the other 2 i had no issue updating the JBL quantum 800. Make sure that your the Quantum Headphones is your Default Device for both Speakers ( Game ) and Earphone ( Communication device )

Also, the human brain uses small head movements to distinguish if sound sources are behind or in front of us. The brain processes the differences between when a sound arrives at the left vs. the right ear to determine where the sound is located. So with JBL QuantumSPHERE 360, you can move your head naturally to pinpoint the exact source of sounds around you.
