About this deal

This really is a fabulous pair of sports earphones on the whole, and the flaws we’ve mentioned are comparatively minor for what is otherwise a superb wireless offering at a stellar price-point. Like the Jaybird Freedom, the new X3 can be used with the Jaybird MySound app on iOS or Android. This lets you customise the sound profile using EQ settings. So if you prefer a little extra bass or tighter treble, that’s up to you. Changes you make are saved directly to the headphones, so they’ll follow you to whatever device you pair them with and you’re free to uninstall the MySound app. Like the Freedom, you’ll probably find yourself fiddling around with the fit out of the box, but once you’ve found a winning combination, you’ll be rewarded by wireless sports headphones that won’t budge. The earbud casings are nowhere near as tiny as those found on the Jaybird Freedom, however, nor are they made from metal. These are plastic, but they at least feel well-constructed and robust. The X3 are sweat-proof, as you’d expect.

Fitness lovers. Just like the Jaybird X3 and X2 before it, the Jaybird X4 has a little bit of everything and is a great all-around pair of exercise earbuds. My right Jaybird bud plays music and my left bud says connect other ear bud when I press the button, what do I do? As they house extra electronics and a battery, only the boldest just sit in your ear like a normal IEM (in-ear monitor). We don’t want them falling out mid-walk after all. Earlier this year, Fitbit unveiled its very first smartwatch, the Ionic. That was certainly the biggest news to come out of the August announcement, but the company announced another product which flew under the radar. The Fitbit Flyer is the company’s first audio product, and it’s aimed squarely at what are currently the best workout earbuds on the market, the Jaybird X3. The mids and treble are given respectable prominence, while the bass is punchy, with plenty of energy to help power you through your next workout. Not surprisingly, especially when wearing the more isolating Comply tips, the sound can be a little narrow – but these aren’t headphones you’ll be listening to critically.Beyond these drop-outs, the sound quality is exceptional considering the X3s are both inexpensive and wireless. Their sound quality is solid and energetic, but a richer sound can be found for less money. Good for fitness freaks, but only decent for the rest of us. Please note: The Firmware Update Assistant will have a software version. This is different to the headphone firmware version. There are plenty of Jaybird X4 presets that also boost the bass, which might be handy for workouts. MyTune ultimately proves Jaybird has done a very good job with its own default “flat” tuning. However, the ability to tweak some of its limitations is welcome. Verdict

Some of you may want to do this when not out running or in the gym. The fins do apply consistent pressure to the inside of your ears, which may not feel that comfy long-term for some ear shapes. The MySound app mentioned earlier also allows for plenty of customisability to mix things up to your taste. With a sweat-proof design, lightweight and compact build, and plenty of methods of securing them, the X3s are well equipped to handle the rigours of physical exercise — the actor voicing the power-status and battery-percentage alerts even sounds like the vocal embodiment of activewear. If you’re experiencing issues with your buds like connectivity, audio, and distortion, or connecting to the MySound app, you may want to try resetting your headphones.
