About this deal

I looked further into this relationship. If the same data is presented differently, an apparent link can be seen. In this graph, both axes are logarithmic, which has the effect of straightening out the line of best fit. It shows that all the services in my dataset fall fairly close to a line. It also allows us to predict what the actual cost of a ferry crossing might be from the distance covered; if that crossing was also on this same line. We can visually compare how certain ferry services charge more per mile than might be expected for the distance they cover; and some charge less. Notably, the Solent crossings are all fairly close to the best fit line. The Cowes Floating Bridge is one of the furthest away; suggesting that even taking into account the fact that it crosses a short distance, it is still a relatively expensive journey. Figure 2: Y Axis: cost per km. X axis: length of journey in km It’s often mooted that mile for mile, the Solent is the most expensive stretch of water to cross in Europe and … it’s quite believable.” On The Wight Thank you for your review - we never forget customers have a choice - the islanders can choose Wightlink or even Red Funnel and those travelling from the mainland have a plethora of options to compete with a trip to the Isle of Wight. If you have ever wondered what an Isle of Wight version would be like, based on today's house prices, look no further.

I live on the Island and think that the hovercraft is the easiest and most reliable (weather permitting) way to cross the Solent by foot. We have found that there is very little demand for the cafe in the terminal past 1915, so this is when we close it. There are still vending machines within the terminal building serving hot/cold drinks and a range of confectionery, as well as free WiFi. Once on board the ferry hot food is always available. The water slide is great, there is a small rollercoaster, perfect for your kids ages. My son used to love Cowboy Town, all the kids running around pretending to be cowboys. He loved the dinosaurs and Rumpus Mansion. At this point, they will most likely respond: “No no, we’ll get this, you got the ice creams”. This works particularly well if they haven’t yet seen the admission price. Per mile, the Solent is not the most expensive piece of water to cross even in the Solent area. So it is definitely not the most expensive in the world.

Isle of Wight Monopoly: Which Places Would You Suggest?

The board game, which has been officially launched, features many familiar Isle of Wight locations. Whilst comparng foot passenger prices may be convenient, vehicle prices are beween four and ten times higher depending on the time of year. I disregarded any free ferries (there were very few of these) or ferries that do not publish their tariff on the internet. I included all the Solent crossings, and all the ferry crossings I could find in this region, plus an arbitrary selection of other crossings starting in the UK, including those going to foreign countries. I tried to find crossings of varying lengths to test the theory that price was connected to distance travelled; so I sought out short crossings and long ones. I measured the ferry distances using Google Maps and approximate routes. Actual distance travelled may be different, especially over longer distances. I focused on UK crossings but also sampled a few outside the UK to see if they were very different (some were, so for my final dataset I excluded crossings that did not include the UK*). I also tried to include a number of chain ferry crossings because I wanted to compare the pricing of Cowes Floating Bridge too. Solent crossings are in the middle of the chart for cost. Cowes Floating Bridge is fairly high up the list though, but neither come close to either the Hayling Ferry or the Norfolk-based Reedham Chain Ferry, both of which could safely claim to be among the most expensive crossings in the UK per mile. Conclusions It is one of the island's most picturesque tourist routes but has been hit with coastal erosion problems in recent years. This one’s no use to most holidaymakers, but an annual pass may be better value for some. A summary is that if you plan to visit both parks during two different school holidays then it is probably worth getting an annual pass. The most expensive ferry in the world: a comparison of the cost of Scottish ferries to cross-Solent ferries was undertaken by Neil Kay, Emeritus Professor in the Economics Department, University of Strathclyde in January 2011 More than 30 locations feature on the board which were chosen during four months of research on the island by the game's makers following the initial approach by the school children.

It's quite complicated because the price fluctuates depending on when you visit and whether you book in advance. Graham Barnes, from Winning Moves, said: "There are lots already, but everyone loves what's happening in their area. Ms Eaton said: "It really motivated them in their learning, they researched the places, gave presentations and were involved in the marketing. As mentioned earlier, it is possible to get 50% off the entry fee if you are accompanied by a Frequent Visitor Pass holder (i.e. annual pass holder). Monopoly: Isle Of Wight Edition is a version of the classic boardgame featuring the Isle of Wight in the UK, published by Winning Moves Games. If I remember correctly, the Solent is the most expensive stretch of water to cross in the universe. or something.” Tank Girl, Urban75 Forums The sheer cheek to them ‘thank you for travelling with Red Funnel’ is unbelievable. Can’t believe there is no other option to get from Southampton. Total penny pinching monopoly which should not be allowed. The first two pink property spaces would showcase streets in Ryde where properties are selling fast. A whopping 252 properties in Ryde have been sold in the last 12 months. This level of customer service is not acceptable and not only shortened our day it ruined our plans totally. This is a paid for piece on behalf of Wight Link and others with interests in preserving their monopoly over the crossing. At least be open about that. Reply
