About this deal

Robert J Rotella (Dr. Bob Rotella) is a renowned psychologist and best-selling author who teaches students around the world how to use their minds to reach their potential. He is consistently recognised as one of world’s finest sports psychologists, and works predominantly with professional golfers from around the world. By helping these golfers to harness the potential of their mind and to control their emotions, he has helped coach and train many top golfers to win in excess of 75 major trophies.

With focus and concentration, you can step onto the golf course and turn what was once nervous energy into adrenaline. I suspect Tom will attain his new dreams as he did the old ones, because he has always been willing to do what was entailed in the long answer to the question posed by his boyhood rival. Pretty informative. Some what dated with golfers who played a long time ago. Including Tom kite who never really impressed me. Shrug off the bad shots. Concentrate on the next. Golf is not a game of perfect. Acceptance is the last part and closes your routine.

This book is okay. I'm pretty new to the golf self-help literature, but even I can tell that there are no startlingly different ideas here. This audio edition is an abridgement of the text version, and I feel no need to go read the real book to find out what was left out. Rotella reads the text himself, and he is not a dynamic speaker (as most authors are not!). I can sort of see the necessity here, though, since he's saying how "I told semi-famous golfer 1 this," "I made semi-famous golfer 2 do that," etc.

Rotella also emphasises how there should be no “mechanics” on the golf course. His mantra is “Train it on the range so that you can trust it on the course.” Rotella explains the importance of a pre-shot routine and how incorporating a great pre-shot routine on the course will allow the golf swing to flow naturally.Training is essential for swing changes and fundamentals. More for beginning of season when shaking off the rush. Dreams are the spice of life. They compel and propel golfers forward through the eventual tough times they will encounter along the way. Even if you fall short of an audacious goal like wanting to receive a full ride to play golf at USC, you will still accomplish more than you probably thought possible. Confidence is crucial to good golf. Confidence is simply the aggregate of the thoughts you have about yourself.

Afterward, we talked, and I told her I was glad I hadn't been carrying a million dollars with me, because I would have bet it all on her to win the Open. That was how impressive her attitude and confidence were that year. The correlation between thinking well and making successful shots is not 100 percent. But the correlation between thinking badly and unsuccessful shots is much higher. If you can accept that there will be some bad breaks during a round of golf, you will be better prepared to manage your emotions and prepare for your next shot. While bad shots will affect your score, how you react to these shots will have a greater bearing on what you shoot. Make a case for yourself – You need to stop beating yourself up after every bad shot. On the first tee, you should have two immediate goals. One is to have fun. The other involves the process of playing, not the results. The goal is to get your mind where it’s supposed to be on every shot. If you do that, you’ll shoot the best score you’re capable of shooting that day, whether it’s 67 or 107. the quality of your practice is more important than the quantity. training and trusting mentalities.

Pat is still trying to figure out what comes next. For a while, she thought that the 1996 Olympics would include golf and be played at Augusta National. She had always dreamed of playing at Augusta, and she had always dreamed of being an Olympian. The prospect of doing both fired her up, until the International Olympic Committee dropped the idea. Patience is a cardinal virtue in golf. To improve, a golfer must learn how to wait for practice and good thinking to bear fruit. Pat Bradley had some of the most exciting dreams I have ever heard. When I first met her, in the early 1980s, she had won a number of tournaments, but she wasn't convinced she knew how to win. She wasn't even sure she was innately gifted at golf. As a kid, she had concentrated most of her attention on skiing. She hadn't won many important amateur events, and she hadn't attended a college with a great women's golf team. She was a good player who just slowly and gradually got better, until she was making a good living as a professional. Golfing potential depends primarily on attitude, skill with the wedges and putter, and how well a golfer thinks." Thank you for all your wonderful work. It helped me win one of our PGA section tournaments (a major) last year. Look forward to receiving your e-book on focus and concentration!”This book is a BUYfor me. There is a lot to absorb in the first reading. My dad saw it on my coffee table and asked to borrow it. His friend recommended it and my dad passed on the recommendation for the blog. if you liked Zen Golf, you will like this book as well. Other Books by Dr. Rotella The first thing you have to do is decide that being optimistic is important to you, because you understand that optimism is essential to fulfilling your dreams and attaining your goals. Once you make that decision, you have to start looking at things from a different perspective.” Will bump this up to 5 stars if my next round goes well, but down to 3 if it goes poorly. Stay tuned
