For over 130 years Glenfiddich has been one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family owned and our whisky has become the world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, a true reflection of the passion, integrity and innovative spirit championed by a traditional fermentation process that has been passed down through the generations. That’s a great question Martin, it’s hard to say when you have those things in your head. I’ve never had it, but if it’s even more disappointing sounding like you’re saying I don’t know if I want to! ;P A fabulous 21 Year Old bottling from Glenfiddich, and as its name suggests this particular single malt was finished in casks used previously to age Caribbean rum for four months! Some cask influence in the form of tropical fruit and spicy ginger to be found in here. For my part, that was the intent, although there was an unexpected birth in the December (nephew was due in March) which, was reason enough for it to be opened at Christmas.

Butterscotch, fruit, citrus peels, honey, malt and misting of wood and spice. Like the aroma it’s nothing to write home about. Malt driven and fun, plenty of character here. Sweet cream, honey, apple crisp, a touch of sweetness. I don't notice a ton of rum on the nose, but hopefully it's a bit more present on the palate.

Nose: Barley sugar, malt and dark brown sugar, with orange peels, marmalade, manuka honey, chocolate and foam bananas. I quite enjoy this one and find it to be an upgrade over other, super premium Glenfiddichs in comparable same price ranges. Nicely done, quite a bit of fun, and it pushes you a touch outside their standard profile. Yum. Glenfiddich single malt is one of the most successful and well-known whisky brands in the world.
