Speaking of aroma intensity, let’s talk about one of the few customizations you get with the Gaggia Brera. Aroma intensity, or Optiaroma as Gaggia calls it, allows you to adjust your brew strength.

Resolution Priming Automatic Machines : Most Automatic machines have circuit priming and rinsing cycles built into the program. As the machine starts, the program will force the machine to carry out a priming (water circuit priming funtion). If this is not shown in the program, you can prime the machine, usually by turning the knob or pressing the button to open the steam pipe to run some water. Arrived promptly. Good looking machine, only minus point was the fitting of a euro style plug. Removed this and replaced with UK. Filled the machine with Expresso Classico fom Macbeans. Filled with filtered water and was ready to go. The manual suggests that it will take 5 coffee’s for the machine to adapt to the coffee and grind setting, and I would say this is spot on. Shots 1 and 2 a little weak, No3 passable and number 4 was just about perfect. Milk frothing / heating had been a worry but not so. Frothed milk easily and that was using skimmed milk. Overall very pleased with the Brera. I’ve got more to say about caring for the brew group, but that’s for later on in my Gaggia Brera review.
