Yes, just... then she was, but it’s fine.” I open my mouth to say more but lose all conviction one way or another. I shrug, not sure if I am actually defending myself or Diana. I can smell him. Is it cologne or just him? The notes are clean, maybe a little woodsy or smoky but not aggressively so. It could be soap and body heat. So, so edgy, so different, with a constant undercurrent of tension whether on the stage or in the bedroom... Raw and addictive. I loved it.'

There was a lot of sex and also drug abuse and also how an artist abuse their body and soul. A lot of competitiveness. Some of the sex was steamy, some was on the cringeworthy side. And though there are a LOT of super cringey sex scenes, the intriguing friendship and rivalry between the two protagonists is more than enough to make up for it in terms of plot.

So edgy, so different, with a constant undercurrent of tension whether on the stage or in the bedroom... Raw and addictive. I loved it.' I don’t know what I want anymore, and I used to know exactly what I wanted. I know that I did. Somewhere along the way that changed. And I know exactly when.’ What?” Then I remember that I had laughed out loud. Like a crazy person. “Oh, that. No. Nothing is funny.”

I also think the politics of ballet are extremely well rendered here, frustrating and infuriating as they may be to read about at times. nothing. That might be everyone else’s problem with it, but it’s exactly what I appreciate about it.I am not sure why this is being marketed as a romance because it most definitely is not one. Yes, there is sex and quite a lot of it, but most of it isn’t between the hero and the heroine, and in the end, there is no real happily ever after. I was expecting so much more from this book, and while there were aspects I did like, it was overshadowed by the many problems this story has. What I didn't expect, however, was the aforementioned overabundance of spicy sexual scenes that took up SO much of the book that I often had a hard time remembering what else in the plot was supposed to be relevant. Between this and Sylvie's constant drug abuse (often for no reason at all) I got pretty frustrated trying to stay invested in her journey. The dialogue also at times felt very clunky and fake... one such scene had the 'alluring' older man watching Sylvie and best frenemy Jocelyn and urging them: "Have fun, girls-do not forget to have fun! For god's sake, you're on drugs!" After finishing this novel, I can report that it's pretty good. It's fine, but it does not leave up to the potential of this subgenre. An] addictive novel perfect for those who love their story with forbidden and steamy elements for a romance book’ He stops a few seats from me and watches the stage. Maybe he isn’t actually joining me. Maybe he just wants a better view.
