About this deal

As if the mythology of the Dragon world and the side stories weren't enough, the author throws in a heist, one of my absolute favourite things in any book. Thank you, L R Lam, for making this reader so happy. Overall I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it to other people who love queer fantasy and dragons!

Dragons Remember, and Do Not Forget: Revealing Dragonfall by

The first book in a new romance epic fantasy trilogy, in which long-banished dragons, revered as gods, return to the mortal realm Dragons have never been so sexy. Lam's triumphant return to fantasy strikes the perfect balance between romance, action, high stakes heists, and betrayal, in a richly imagined world that's brimming with magic and heart. You can't help but fall for this book.”—Kate Dylan, author of Mindwalker A thief with mysterious ancestors trying to finally rise from poverty. A dragon, the last of his kind, who finds himself trapped in the human world. When they are forced to work together, they form an unlikely team – any they actually have no clue what the other one actually is… Dragonfall is fresh and exciting fantasy, full of treachery, romance, and kaleidoscopic world-building. You will gladly lose yourself in L. R. Lam’s creation.”—Jen Williams, author of The Poison Song Set in a unique and wondrous world, Dragonfall is a soaring and fiery love story that will burn or melt your heart. Lam’s prose is delicate and gorgeous yet sharp, and will leave readers pining for the next book.”—Wesley Chu, #1 New York Times-bestselling author of the War Arts SagaDragonfall 5 and the Haunted World (1979): Transporting intergalactic arms dealers, the crew of Dragonfall 5 must take a voyage to the Haunted World to raise much-needed funds. It is a place of sand and ghosts, a world that almost ran out of water, and the people who died or were lost in attempts to escape the dying planet. That being said, the ending was still really well resolved which I appreciate. I'm not a big fan of books in a series ending with a massive cliffhanger or no answers because that's frustrating. Dragonfall ended by giving me a decent conclusion for the immediate events that happened but not the ongoing goals/quests of the characters. The spell connects to Everen, the last male dragon foretold to save his kind, dragging him through the Veil. Disguised as a human, Everen soon learns that to regain his true power and form and fulfil his destiny, he only needs to convince one little thief to trust him enough to bond completely--body, mind, and soul—and then kill them.

Dragonfall 5 is a series of children's science fiction novels written by Brian Earnshaw during the 1970s and illustrated by Simon Stern. I wasn't expecting the romance to be such a significant part of the book, but it really is, Of course, I understand that not everyone will enjoy this aspect of the book, but personally, I thought it was chefs kiss. Vanessa Armstrong Horror Film It Follows to Get a Sequel, Reasonably Titled They Follow 7 hours agoDragonfall is a soaring good time from start to finish, and has plenty for fantasy fans to love: an intriguing world, forbidden romance, unique magic, and of course, as many dragons as your heart could possibly desire.”—Tara Sim, author of The City of Dusk Lam's Dragonfall is a powerful all-new imagining of dragons and humans and the wild magic burning between them, set in a divided world as brilliantly original as it is convincing. With striking, beautiful prose and characters that will own your heart, this book - and those to follow in the trilogy - are must-reads ― Julie E. Czerneda, author of the Night’s Edge series The characters were written with care and had great development. The ending was a twist I did not see coming and it had me wishing for the second book immediately. I feel happy. I feel sad. I feel like it shouldn’t be over. This is a story of an unlikely forced bond, both have secrets, both parties have their ulterior motives however they find themselves coming together in ways they do not expect.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read one of my most anticipated reads of the year! The characters were also all pretty well written. While we primarily follow the dragon's and the human's POVs, both of which were engaging in their own ways, we also have a smattering of chapters from a warrior priest called Sorin and the dragon's sister Cassia. While they were sparse and few, I loved how the author developed Sorin's character and I am excited about what role she ends up playing in future books. At the end of the book, I don't know who I felt more sorry for Arcady (the human) or Everen (the dragon). I was obviously rooting for both of them but this book ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger, I don't know how I'm supposed to wait for the next book because finishing this book felt like emerging out of a pool after nearly drowning.

Dragonfall by L.R. Lam | Waterstones

Dragonfall is fresh and exciting fantasy, full of treachery, romance and kaleidoscopic world-building. You will gladly lose yourself in L. R. Lam's creation ― Jen Williams, author of The Poison Song and Talonsister The characters in the book are so well written, and I mean really well written. We get to see what they're thinking and feeling, and I absolutely adored Arcady and Everen. However, the side characters are equally excellent, and I hope we get to see more of them as the series progresses. I especially appreciated the gender fluid main character and the fantastic conversations and discussions about gender in this book. It’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a multiple POV story in first person. I am writing this just as I have finished the last chapter and I think I will be reading and craving the second instalment for quite some time to come! The world is very interesting and unique. Story is nicely paced and always interesting. Mysteries slowly reveal themselves. Characters are well developed and so likable. The book wraps up nicely, finishing this part of story and leaving you wanting more now without cliffhangers. One of the things that really stood out to me was the queernorm world and the world building It was exceptional, but I have to admit that it did take a bit of effort to get into it. The first 20% of the book is pretty intense, with a lot of world-building and narration, but trust me when I say it's worth it. Once I got lost in the immersive writing style, I couldn't put the book down. An intriguing world, forbidden romance, unique magic, and of course, as many dragons as your heart could possibly desire.”—Tara Sim, author of The City of Dusk
