It sounds as though the protective layer of the previously applied Garden Shades is stopping the new coat from adhering. I really wish they would get there colours right, I chose Natural Oak didn't look dark on tin but it's the colour of dark chocolate. Please get someone who knows the colours to put correct images on tins. Very frustrating. My panels had been properly prepared by a professional painter of 35 years,2 coats in really hot weather in June. I bought 2 tins of white daisy, garden shades for my summer house. After applying it , when it started raining a day later it’s started going yellow. Not fit for purpose. I also used 2 tins of fresh rosemary which was fine. Must be a bad batch. There can’t be any quality control at Cuprinol. Insufficient or non-existent use of a fungicidal wash to clean the surface may have allowed mold or green growth particles to form beneath the coating The wood in places had been weathered to the point where it won’t adhere(panels are only 6 yrs old)

To say its pathetic is a understatement. It is like painting with coloured water, the consistency of the stain is extremely thin, watery & dripping.. bought two tins of the stuff.. very, very disappointed.. We'd recommend brushing over the surface with a stiff bristle brush to break down the waxes following a clean down to remove any residue. Once the waxes are broken down and removed a new coat can be applied.
