About this deal

As baby Poppy is a newborn, some of the chapters are more relevant than others. Toilet training for example is a good few years away. Interestingly, at first glance I thought the book was for newborns only. It is actually relevant to toddlers and older children and is one of those parenting books that is fairly long lived. You will find yourself referencing on and off as your child reaches different milestones. About The Author Not useless information but the sort of person that buys the book will likely know everything in the book. The headlines here in the UK are dominated by stories of horse meat ‘contaminating’ British meat products. I have no real problem with eating horse, in fact, now I know it is cheaper and apparently indistinguishable from beef, if anything, I want to eat MORE of it.

But of course it doesn’t end there. Even after ten years as a stay at home dad, I still consider myself a Commando Dad in training. It is worth the effort. To a trooper, their dad has many roles, often falling somewhere between Hero, Role Model and Protector. When you become a dad you step into those shoes and you owe it to yourself – and your troopers – to be the best dad you can be. So don’t let yourself get sidelined, dads. You are simply too important. Chapter headings include: Preparing Base Camp (baby's bedroom); An Army Marches on Its Stomach (feeding); Welcome to the Thunderbox (toilet training); On Manoeuvres (transporting kids) and Dealing with Hostilities. Using genuine and faux military slang makes the book a touch more fun and keeps things light-hearted for potentially stressed readers. Sinclair, 41, now a father of three, found himself wishing for something he'd been given when he joined the army: a basic training manual. "Any soldier will tell you how precious that little book is," he says. "It's a survival guide, basically. It tells you how to do everything you have to do – simply, clearly and concisely. So that was my plan: a book that will tell dads exactly how to bathe a baby, change a nappy, make a bottle, give it. A book that will give them confidence." It's also pretty funny. It's all written in kind of "prentend-military" jargon, which just makes it more fun reading. It may be couched in unfamiliar language, but this is all sound common sense. And even the most pacifist-minded of dads can see that the military metaphor works surprisingly (and entertainingly) well.

Hopefully the mixed up feelings have subsided now and you can think clearly againwith a sense of perspective. Multilingual maternity resources – These are the many different languages available to give help and advice. Perhaps you have friends who are parents. They might be a good place to start. The internet is also an easily accessible, but sometimes contrary source of parenting advice.By this time, the troops in the first landing managed to fight their way up the beach and were penetrating inland. This gave my granddad and the other Pioneers the chance to establish petrol dumps ashore. The fuel was ferried by amphibious vehicles from vessels standing offshore. If you decide to embark on the mini-beast hunt, print off the handy help sheets below as well as the ‘Mission Accomplished’ one to go with your troopers photos and drawings! There is an irony here. My review is a series of heavy paragraphs use to describe a very concise book. If I were to write this review in the style used by Neil it would simply read: Childminding, he says, taught him even more: "It's hard work. Long days. But it taught me the importance of being organised. If you can get organised, you can have fun."
