MONTREUIL, C. (2011). Lecture littéraire et journal dialogué : avantages et limites. Québec français. Numéro 20, p.41-43. Je travaille ce roman avec mes élèves de CE2 depuis plusieurs années, mais cette fois, j’ai essayé d’utiliser ce texte pour travailler des stratégies de lecture précises.

Ici, les élèves doivent retrouver la cause ou la conséquence de chaque événement. Ce roman est un excellent support pour introduire ces notions. Le ton se veut grinçant sur pas mal d’aspects. Comme le fait que Willy Wonka, tout en habit de colon, explore la jungle et découvre un peuple de « sauvage » qu’il paye en fève de cacao pour leur labeur au sein de son usine. Ou encore le regard exotique que porte les Anglais pour les peuples orientaux — le passage avec le palais en chocolat le témoigne par exemple —, etc.
