Timid and “very, very little,” Pip the rabbit keeps a running list of everything he’s afraid of—and he can barely keep up. As raindrops fall, he imagines “a gobbler blowing bubbles at the bottom of Continue reading » Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments Debi started writing children's books in 1976, then attended art school in Edinburgh from 1979 to 1984. Tal Ben-Shahar taught at Harvard, where his classes on Positive Psychology and The Psychology of Leadership were among the most popular courses in the University's history. Today Tal teaches at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya.DEBI GLIORI is the award-winning author and illustrator of many Bloomsbury picture books including the Alfie series, The Trouble with Dragons, Dragon Love Penguin and the bestselling No Matter What. She has sold more than half a million books in the UK alone. One time I saw an advert whose image has remained indelibly etched on my memory. The photo had a squirrel about to crush a nut with a pair of pliers. It had one more thing a short caption that read: ‘Unfair advantage.’ That is exactly what I would have said about Lisa Nichols if her book came out the way her speeches do. But nonetheless, she put together an awesome book with ideas and counsel that oozes, not only wisdom, but also great business ideas and models for the many young people I see going about starting their motivational speaking careers the wrong way. With great humility Sally shares her journey of courage, hope and persistence in boldly loving her children despite the odds, no matter what...Throughout the book I laughed and cried, experiencing the highs and lows of loving children who have lived the unthinkable. For too long adopters walked this journey very much alone. We must now accompany them on this journey, in our neighbourhoods, communities and cities, and within our education, social care and health services. Together we can make a difference; each life is precious, however fragile and different. No Matter What communicates this truth, and is an important contribution at this time of policy change. I found this book almost unbearably moving and, ultimately, uniquely uplifting. I have never before read, in a single book, such a compelling portrait of the horrors of child neglect and its consequences, alongside a portrait of the historical inadequacies of adoption assessment and post adoption support. This is a staggeringly vivid account of a heroic struggle by heroic adopters to heal the deep scars of neglect and abuse. I cannot recommend it warmly enough. An uplifting true story of an ordinary couple who build an extraordinary family, No Matter What describes how Sally and Rob Donovan embark upon a journey to adopt following a diagnosis of infertility.

Her approach to self-growth is so powerful, that I realized I've been neglecting myself way too much all this while and now I need to thank this book for waking me up to start 'doing myself' first, only by doing so I can serve my purpose and enrich others.I read this book over 4 months and following is my takeaway: Wellbeing is multidimensional. Spiritual wellbeing can be achieved through mindfullness. Physical wellbeing through yoga and exercise. Intellectual through staying curious and open minded. Relational through listening and giving. Emotional through acceptance of joy and pain alike. PreS-Gr 2-Gliori and her work are well known to the English-speaking markets. This very smooth translation of Polar Bolero will introduce a new population of readers to this author/illustrator. Continue reading » Sir Martin Narey, Government Advisor on Children's Social Care and Visiting Professor, Durham and Sheffield Hallam Universities Sally Donovan has written a warm, humorous, hard-hitting and compelling story about her own adoption journey. What she says will resonate with the majority of those who have adopted children from care. Ultimately this is an overwhelmingly positive celebration of the transformation that adoption can bring to society's most damaged and vulnerable children, but it also clearly sets out the realities of parenting children affected by early childhood abuse and neglect. Every adopter will be able to recognise some aspect of their own experiences in Sally's story and I would urge every professional working with adopted children -- including health visitors and teachers, as well as social workers - to read this so they know what understanding and support those parenting adopted children need. Father Bear doesn't know best when it comes to baby-sitting in this unconvincing and visually confusing domestic sitcom. While Mr. Bear fumbles through bathing and feeding the neighbor's baby, he's Continue reading »I've watched Lisa Nichols light up rooms and inspire thousands for years. Large shows Small that love is there ‘no matter what’ in this robust board book edition of a classic picture book. The two Grizzly-Bear boys also join the party, but complain about Mr. B.'s choice of Continue reading » No Matter What pulls no punches in describing Sally and Rob's moving journey of adopting two siblings and the challenges of parenting them in great detail. It is beautifully written with humour and understanding.
