About this deal

Most of our flat plastic strips have square edges, but we also have a few sizes with round edges. This means that two of the edges of the plastic strips are slightly rounded. Square edge plastic strips Immediately fold the sheet and shape adhesive with fingers. Force adhesive into the drilled holes. Do not press too hard to keep a 3 to 5 mm layer of adhesive material on both side of the tab.

Uncured resins are classed as dangerous goods and would need to be disposed of correctly. For domestic users, usually your local council recycling centre will have a disposal service for such chemicals or containers. We have not specifically saught FDA (or similar) approval for this resin system so if you were to make these plates commercially then you would either need to make a plate using this resin system and then have it tested and approved safe for food use or use a different resin system that has specifically been approved for food use. Mixed and cured fully and properly the resulting plastic should be stable and non-toxic but testing would be required to prove this. Can I use this to glue in an aluminium insert that has come loose on my carbon bike frame? I am looking for a suitable adhesive to use, if this filler is not suitable can you advise of something else please? I am thinking of something like a two part epoxy glue. This material is different to our rigid plastic strips and we encourage you to request samples if you are unsure which material to choose. Solid plastic stripsClean the damaged area with a soft cloth (i.e. 3M™ Professional Panel Wipe and a suitable degreaser). Gather materials. Get together all the plastic pieces you want to join. You’ll also need and your adhesive, of course, tissue paper, something to protect your work area, and sandpaper (for bonding smooth surfaces). Our plastic flat strips are manufactured in PVC and are solid all the way through, both in terms of material and colour. We get asked sometimes if our flat strips are foiled, with the colour just being on the surface of the product. They are not foiled, they are high quality products and are a solid colour all the way through. Bendable plastic strips Stay safe. Work in a well-ventilated, protected area. Wash your hands when you are finished, and optionally wear gloves for extra protection. Clean the area inside and outside using 3M™ VHB™ Surface Cleaner or 3M™ General purpose Adhesive Cleaner applied with a 3M™ Professional Panel Wipe.

To finish the plastic bumper repair and prepare for the primer, the use of a plastic filler product is recommended. Use either 3M™ Flexible Plastic Filler for plastic-like performance and excellent sanding and feather-edging, or use 3M™ Plastic Filler. If you require thin plastic strip take a look at our range and see if we have a suitable size. It is possible for us to manufacture thin strips of plastic to other specifications but this would be custom production so is subject to much larger production runs, normally around 2000 metres. The minimum production runs would vary depending on the size of the profile and can be quoted upon request. uPVC strips - an explanation The filler is supplied complete with the necessary fast epoxy hardener which will cure the filler in around 2hrs. It depends on whether you choose rigid plastic strips or flexible plastic strips as to how bendable the plastic strip will be.Apply adhesive. Apply it sparingly to one surface and press the parts together immediately. Hold in place until the bond sets. Do not reposition parts.

If necessary, 3M™ Superfast Plastic Adhesive can be painted using the usual paint process for plastic parts or specific bumper paint in spray. Sand the repair area level, first with 80 grit sandpaper and then with a fine grain sandpaper to smooth it out. If needed, apply another light layer of filler over any gaps or dips to restore the original contours. Epoxy resins have very little odour and so it's quite viable to use them indoors (i.e. in your house) without upsetting anyone. The resin is almost completely odourless and the hardener has an amonia smell which doesn't really carry or linger. Prepare surfaces. Surfaces should be close fitting (pre-fit before joining), free of residue, and dry. Slightly roughen smooth surfaces to improve results. Apply a liberal amount of repair material to the damaged area so that you make the surface a little higher than surrounding bumper. Use a spreader like a squeegee to carefully smooth out the filler. Make sure to push the filler into any scratches to fill them right to the bottom. Cover with smoothing film if supplied and allow to dry and fully harden.

Rigid PVC strips are manufactured from a different material to our flexible plastic strips and we encourage you to request samples if you are unsure which material to choose. Depending on the nature of your project you need to consider the width of the plastic flat strip that you need. The smallest width of plastic (PVC) flat bar strips range is 6mm and the widest is 142mm. Spacers and gap fillers, as the plastic strips can sit between two edges or slide underneath an edge to fill a gap. Whether you need to know how to patch a hole in plastic or join two pieces together, using the right adhesive is key. Our plastic strips are manufactured from uPVC although it is important to point out the difference between the plastic material we use and the plastic material used by the double-glazing and widow industries. In those industries, additional stabilisers are often added to the uPVC, whereas our material is standard uPVC.

Prepare adhesive and activator (if applicable). Open the adhesive and, if relevant, the activator according to the manufacturer’s instructions. To finish the repair and prepare for the primer, the use of a Plastic Filler Product is recommended. Using a 3M™ Cubitron™ II Clean Sanding Abrasive Disc 737U 180+, sand the area to shape, ready for either an application of plastic filler or prepare directly for primer application. Thoroughly clean the bumper inside and out. Any dirt or grease will stop the filler bonding properly and ruin the appearance of the repair. Allow to dry and wipe down with solvent wipes, which are usually included in the kit.s plastic repair process allows you faster repairs by using the Instant Plastic Repair patch, cutting the time of the repair as you don't need to wait for two areas of adhesive to cure. Remove the masking tape and sand down the damage at the front to make the area a little low and create a rough surface for bonding. Apply bonding liquid if supplied. After 5 minutes shape tab using 3M™ Cubitron™ II Roloc™ Fibre Disc 80+ / 180+ and create a new fixing point to restore original appearance.
