Yes. In recent years retro games have soared in value, partly because the age of gamers is increasing and nostalgia is a great influence, but also because the status of games and game design has increased. Some old games are seen as works of art, and as such are highly sought after. Retro games have a number of built in values too, including scarcity and the fact they can only be played on old hardware. Are emulators legal? The Lynx is without a doubt Atari's most underrated game system, and one of the most underrated handheld consoles next to the likes of the PS Vita. It is the first handheld console ever to be mass-produced with a full-color screen, nearly a full ten years before the release of the more widely-known and successful Gameboy Color. On top of that, it had a good library of games, an interesting design — despite maybe being a little too big to be considered a true "handheld"—, and it was extremely durable. What's more, its 30-game library features all the classics you'd expect. They've aged pretty well thanks to their 2D visuals, too. These aren't arcade conversions either, but home console games that are tailored to the NES – including Castlevania, Kirby's Adventure, The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man 2, Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 3 – and as such game design shines. The gameplay is much harder and more frustrating than we're used to nowadays, but the 8-bit pixel-art style has an endearingly retro feel nonetheless. This retro Atari console is designed to be exactly like the classic one that dominated the ‘80s more than perms, shoulder pads, and synth music. But, this one is slimmer than the bottoms of a pair of tapered trousers. Yep, it’s been compacted and endowed with HDMI for super-easy connectivity. It’s also been blessed with internal memory that lets you save and resume games, and even rewind them when things get worse than your chocolate cake fiasco.

Starting up and logging in, you're met with a navigation screen where the VCS apps live. There's a cool Atari VCS Companion app you can install on your mobile device that lets you control the system from your smartphone. If you've ever used a Roku device and had to replace your lost remote with the Roku app, it's pretty similar in functionality. It mimics the functionality of a mouse and keyboard, which is nice because some of the "apps" require a mouse and keyboard to work at all.The Atari VCS Vault contains a decent selection of Atari 2600 and 1980s arcade classics. Some of my favorite old Atari 2600 games are here, like Yars Revenge. Then there are some weird choices, like Basic Math. There are also a LOT of sports games. I don't even like playing sports games from 2 years ago, I definitely don't have any nostalgia for Bowling on Atari 2600. Out of over 80 Atari 2600 games included with the VCS, 17 are straight sports games. I didn't count all the racing games, of which there are plenty (but not Gran Prix, the one I wanted most). There are some classics on here, like Missile Command, Adventure, and a couple others, but overall it's a weak selection. For instance, the remastered “Haunted House” is an elaborate stealth game where players evade colorful ghosts and monsters – but it retains the exploration mechanics of its namesake that simply featured floating eyes roaming a dark, 2D maze. My Arcade® is an exciting line of miniature retro arcade devices, Plug ‘N Play consoles and portable gaming handhelds, which include officially licensed iconic titles from Atari®, Bandai Namco, Capcom®, Data East®, Konami®, Taito®, and Jaleco®. It almost feels redundant to justify the 2600's placement as one of Atari's better consoles, or even as one of the greatest consoles in the history of gaming. It's the system that was in the house of every child in the late-70s and early-80s throughout the world.

Digital Eclipse is the best in the world at what they do,” said Atari CEO Wade Rosen. “They have a deep love and respect for the history of the games industry, and are renowned for developing critically acclaimed projects based on historic franchises. The Jaguar was a Hail Mary for the company that only had one last shot to put out a successful console before needing to leave the console business altogether. It came up short, and the reason is that the Jaguar was honestly too ahead of its time. While not in the company’s plans as yet, the Atari CEO also showed enthusiasm for a hypothetical handheld system that can play its retro games on the go like a Nintendo Switch. The Atari 2600+ takes its design cues from the early-1980s revision of the original console, with fake wood grain on the front and four control switches. But Atari says the console is only 80 percent as large as the original console, "making it easier to fit into modern living spaces." The console also has an HDMI output and uses USB-C for power. Game save options: 2 save slots via on-board memory and 2 save slots via Micro SD Card (not included)

This re-release reduces the console's size and adds USB and HDMI cable ports. Other than that, it's been left exactly as it appeared in the era of the Spice Girls and Friends. And honestly, why would you change anything about it? It was always a gorgeous machine to begin with thanks to its simple design, friendly oversized buttons, and eye-catching disc tray. The Atari Gamestation Pro (DGUNL-7012) is the first console on the market to integrate the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Arcade and bonus titles into a single platform. Included are heart-pounding favorites like Adventure®, Missile Command®, Asteroids®, Centipede® and many more! The handheld unique TATE mode - turn it vertically and you can play games as some were intended in the arcades. This is great for shooters like Truxton and it's simple and easy to switch modes. In my Evercade EXP review I did find the slim design of the console made it a little cramped to use TATE mode. The Nintendo Classic Mini, a replica of the NES, enables us to get a rare insight into the games and design decisions that made Nintendo the game publisher of the 1980s. The Nintendo Entertainment System was where things really began for Nintendo. It was the company's first home console and the birthplace of Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid as we know them today.

My Arcade® Releases the Atari® Gamestation Pro with 200+ Games

The downside? The games, while excellently emulated and even support a virtual keyboard and disc swapping, are missing some classics that made Amiga an iconic system. I would love to be able to play Sensible Soccer, The Secret of Monkey Island, and the Cinemaware series of games, for example.

The response to the unveiling of the Atari® Gamestation Pro has been extremely positive,” said Ethan Zoubek, President at Atari. “Fans love the design, the games, and the unique combination of simplicity and modern features.” Atari® is an interactive entertainment company and an iconic gaming industry brand that transcends generations and audiences. The latter is a tidy little device with bold red buttons that are probably visible from the upper atmosphere, and they complete a system that is bold, brash, and a slice of gaming history. If you're after a solid 8-bit retro console, and you don't have a fond affection for ZX Spectrum, this is a good choice. What are retro gaming consoles? The model you get depends on where you live. US gamers can buy the angular North American Super Famicom version with purple accents and controller buttons. The Super NES version, with its more colourful, rounded design with red, blue, yellow, and green buttons is for UK users. Everything else is pretty much as you remember, and it's we found it heartwarming to see it in our living room again. The Super NES Classic comes in number 3 behind the NES Mini, and is equally well-built and offers another glimpse into Nintendo's development. The SNES was the successor to the NES, and as such its games are more advanced. Like the NES Mini this replica is also very expensive.
