About this deal

I thought that this could be due to the fact that he comes across as a bit whiny-moany especially when talking about his time at BarclayCard and then when he was struggling in the comedy circuits. Although this insight that he does give into life in the comedy circuit is very interesting. I wouldn’t have said that this book made me laugh-out-loud but it did make me smile in places and cringe (accident with his teeth and ripping his toe-nails out) here and there. In a world of celebrity which this focuses on there is nothing truly memorable and the only surprising thing to me was Alan Carr once lived it Stretford and I kept asking was this anywhere near where my dad was brought up? He has written two autobiographies, Look Who It Is! and Alanatomy, and even they are in the distinctive voice he describes as like “a seagull fighting for a chip” but I receive as trilling reverberations of Kenneth Williams in his scratchy Carry On heyday. As a comedian, Carr’s DNA is 60% Williams, with dollops of a softer camp reminiscent of Frankie Howerd, Julian Clary, Larry Grayson and Dale Winton.

His insight into the world of growing up as an gay adolescent ,working in a call centre,to stand up comedy ,is lighthearted but honest. Alan Carr's Adventures with Agatha Christie - All 4". www.channel4.com . Retrieved 6 September 2022. I read this book because somebody that I know recommended it to me last year. I’ve just managed to get round to reading it, and overall I would say that it has left a mixed impression behind.

Alan Carr's Christmas Box". BBC Radio 2. Archived from the original on 28 December 2007 . Retrieved 1 February 2008. The show, called Changing Ends, is co-written by the 46-year-old and focuses on his time living in Northampton in the 1980s while his father Graham Carr was manager of the town's football team. Carr has moved from Sussex, where he and Drayton shared a farm, and is “falling in love with London again”. He’s also “tentatively looking” for a relationship. “But I mean, how do I even meet people?” This book is everything I expect from an autobiography.. funny, intimate and self assured with a dash of honesty. I loved how care free Alan Carr was, he named and shamed some celebrities which takes some "balls" and the fact the book embodies his campiness. A very good read. I love Alan Carr, put him on the tele and you are bound to be in stitches, his voice, facial expressions, I could listen to him all day. So when I saw this book years ago I bought it and it has stayed on my TBRM for years. I finally got round to it. I read it all in his voice which just adds to the humour.

Allen Carr - Wikipedia

He is 46 years old as of 14 June 2022. He was born in 1976 in Weymouth, United Kingdom. His real name is Alan Graham Carr. Alan Carr Family – Education Carr will feature in the series as himself in the present day, while Oliver Savell, who starred in Kenneth Branagh's Belfast, will play the young Alan. The series is described as "a love letter to a time and a town where things weren't always so inclusive". I would recommend it to most people but maybe not to homophobics as there are a few mentions about his sex life (nothing too graphic though!) Now I'm 33 and while I think my life has been utterly engaging and facinating, I imagine to everyone else it's only been mildly or moderately interesting. I wouldn't write a book of my life, so why do 'celebs' feel the need to put pen to paper every 5 minutes? When I saw this, I rolled my eyes, then thought of his stand up and radio show (which I enjoy) and thought "at the very least it's got to fill 30 mins better than bloody Heat magazine"... ironically the front of the book had a quote from Heat "easily the funniest book of the year" which totally put me off wanting to buy it. But what the hell, it was part of a "buy one get one half price" offer.Interview: Alan Carr". This is Nottingham. 8 October 2008 . Retrieved 18 January 2009. [ permanent dead link] Alan Carr to Host this Year's Royal Variety Performance 2021". itv.com/presscentre . Retrieved 2 November 2021. What about Graham? “My dad found it incredibly sad. Which is not what you want to hear when you’ve made a sitcom.” Whereas I used to maybe slag off someone from X Factor, I think we’ve realised now who the enemy is Carr with actor Oliver Savell, who plays the comedian as a boy in the sitcom Changing Ends. Alanatomy: my Autobiography by Alan Carr | Goodreads

The tension is in watching a child with Carr’s flamboyance unknowingly navigate the rampant homophobia of the 80s while his mother, Christine, fiercely beats away sneering neighbours. In one scene, Graham and Alan are sitting in their bronze Audi Quattro on the drive. “I don’t think you know what normal is, Alan,” his dad says. Modern-day Alan crashes in with a voiceover: “Hey, snowflakes! This was therapy, 80s style.”I loved Alan Carrs first book and so I’m delighted this did not disappoint. The fact I was listening to the audio book and it was read by the author just made the experience even better. At times on the way to work I was crying with laughter so much I had to stop. Alan is 45 years old as of 2021. His zodiac sign is Gemini. His religion is not known. Alan Carr Husband
