About this deal

Balanced has clear advantages in professional audio applications and noisy environments, but for us headphone enthusiasts, it really is going to come down to the individual component (or components) in the audio chain. There are equally as many cases where properly implemented simple unbalanced solutions (rather than balanced) will be the clear winner. iFi Audio is an award-winning audio tech company dedicated to enhancing your music enjoyment. With a mission to improve sound quality and eliminate noise, distortion, and hiss, iFi Audio offers a wide range of products that cater to headphones, speakers, portable audio devices, phones, and TVs. By doing so, they aim to deliver studio-quality audio that allows you to experience music as the artists intended. Unbalanced connections derive their name from the relative impedance to ground of the two connections in each channel: hot or positive ‘+’ and ground or negative ‘-’. Because the impedance to ground differs, we call the connection unbalanced. I am still running all my headphones through it. It is Amazing with my HiFiman Sundara’s and Focal Elex’s. Pretty good with my Fostex TH-610’s, but I am waiting on a balanced cable.

4.4mm to XLR Cable - iFi audio

When I first listen to them I though they kinda sound quite low and had to increase the volume which is normal for other iems that I had listen to before. After spending some time, I came to realisation that these iems produce the musical quality at lower comfortable volumes and I do not have to crank the volume up. They are extremely detailed and airy and I can relax and listen to them for hours It seems to me that balanced audio connector has three widely used standards right now in the market—2.5mm (Astell&Kern and many others), 4.4mm(primarily Sony), and 4pin XLR. Obviously 4 pin XLR is pretty much only for desktop and that leaves 2.5 and 4.4 as the only two major options in portable gears. My question is, which is better?Just to make sure I understand correctly and also that I explained correctly, please see "diagram" below: I got a pair of Denon AH-MM400 a while ago. I only recently discovered that it has low sensitivity, so I started researching about DAPs and dac amps. I saw that they usually have a 4.4mm balanced output. After doing some digging, I concluded that MM400 came with an unbalanced 3.5 to 3.5mm cable in the box. I heard that people say “balanced output sounds better”, but I also heard that you have to use a balanced cable with balanced output.

As we have seen, there is no simple, clear-cut answer for whether unbalanced or balanced is a superior connection over the other. Whether a balanced connection provides an advantage depends on the circuits within a device and what provides the best signal path with the least degradation. In this way, the source, rather than the headphones, is the critical component. It also has intrinsic shielding provided by minZ™ helix construction. They protect the cable from RFI and EMI noise and provide the cleanest transfer medium possible. I have been told that a 4 pole connector cannot match up to the 6 connectors in the dual XLR’S. Is that logical? Or true? With a focus on Class A analogue circuitry and maintaining the audio signal's integrity, iFi Audio's products offer exceptional performance without compromising environmental sustainability. They believe that how a product looks, performs, and impacts the environment all matter, and they strive to deliver audio solutions that meet these criteria. At the heart of iFi Audio's business are its customers. They prioritise delivering the highest quality audio wherever you are, whether in the comfort of your home or on the go. Their distribution centre in the USA serves renowned retailers such as B&H and etailz, expanding their global network and reaching more music enthusiasts.

4.4mm balanced adapter cable and is it Is there a 3.5mm to 4.4mm balanced adapter cable and is it

The soundstage on the Mangird Top is wider than all budget iems that have own and have used before, and the imaging is very precise. This makes the IEM great for listening to music with complex soundscapes and excellent for FPS gaming. I can easily place each instrument in the soundstage or footsteps in gaming. Since its establishment in 2012, iFi Audio has been driven by the love of music and a commitment to making a difference in people's lives. With over 50 meticulously designed and manufactured products, they ensure every detail meets their high standards. Sourcing parts from around the world, including Germany, the USA, and Japan, they bring together global expertise to create exceptional audio devices. All connections are unbalanced or balanced and all amplifiers are either single-ended or differential.

Would it be better running an audio cable between the Fiio M11 DAP and the N90Q or would it be better to run a USB cable between both of them? I guess the latter one? While not a headphone cable, it should be noted that a potential hum issue can be introduced when connecting a portable source to a non-portable device with a true earth ground. For example, a battery-operated DAC or DAP connected to a home headphone amplifier. While not an issue with unbalanced connections, using a 4-pole balanced connection (such as the 2.5mm TRRS) can produce unwanted noise due to differences between ground references. You should be ok with a balanced headphone cable connected to an unbalanced source. The reverse (unbalanced headphone cable to balanced source) is when potential to damage the source occurs. For an unbalanced connection, noise is added disproportionately to the high impedance signal conductor, resulting in a net noise contribution on the output. 4.4 mm balanced output Seriously, how do I properly use the 4.4 mm balanced output

Source is PC --> iFi Zen DAC V2 balanced Amp/DAC --> 1. unbalanced 3.5mm output --> unbalanced headphones

a balanced output can deliver 4 times the power for a given power supply voltage… The balanced output would offer no real advantage in an AC powered amplifier.” – Benchmark Media Systems The damping factor will degrade by a factor of 2 because both amplifiers contribute to the source impedance of the balanced amplifier (output impedance is doubled). Distortion will usually increase because each amplifier is required to drive half of the impedance that would be seen by an unbalanced amplifier.” – Benchmark Media Systems
