About this deal

Across is a photograph of one of our biggest selling species, in various pot sizes. From left to right the plants are in 2L, 3L, 4L, 5L and 10L pots. x 1 litre airpot kits– ideal for raising your own seedlings and cuttings to produce a vital, healthy root-system. We grow in Air-pots at the nursery and can supply a range of sizes up to 100L. If you would like a larger size, please do get in touch.

From the table, you can calculate how much larger a 25L pot is to a 1L pot by calculating percentage change. Simply minus the old height from the new height, then divide by the original height and then multiply by hundred. ((26.16-9)/9) x 100. Thus the percentage change is 190.67%. We would never grow a Eucalyptus tree in anything else (other than the ground!), and wouldn’t recommend you do either. This is not some latest gardening fad sales-pitch, we’ve done the research in traditional round pots and thrown away the dead trees for you! We suggest that you sit your Air-pot grown tree inside another, more decorative, patio pot or planter. (see the diagram above) Trees are available in a large number of pot sizes in this range - 15, 18, 25, 30, 45, 50 and so on - with larger pots containing older, more mature trees. The greater the maturity, the greater the instant impact.

Now you have calculated the cubic centimetres of you pot, simply divide by a thousand to arrive at litres. All plant dimensions are measured from the top of the pot or root ball ie 40/60cm plants will be between 40cm and 60cm above ground when planted. If your pot is a square or rectangle, calculating the cubic centimetres is easier. Simply, multiply the height by the width by the diameter. Most plant pot sizes are measured in litres, which is a measure of volume, calculated from a shape’s cubic centimetres. A cylinder’s cubic centimetres is calculated from the equation πr 2h. Thus to calculate you plant pots literage, you need to measure your pot’s height and radius with a ruler. If your plant pot isn’t an exact cylinder, but a flat-topped cone, it is best to approximate calculating a cylinder. Fully grown trees are supplied at this point and at great cost, due to the cost of delivery and years in the nursery.

This pot/planter should have a drainage hole to prevent the bottom sitting in water, and should be sat on a stable solid surface e.g. a flagstone, to prevent it tipping over or prospecting roots penetrating into the ground. Please leave an air gap between the two pot walls of approximately 5cm. Do not fill the gap between the decorative pot and the Air-pot with soil. Too complicated? Below you can see the measurements of various cylindrical pots that were visualised in the above infographic. In our calculations we have presumed the radius is two/thirds of the height.

Use the green screw(s) to hold the pot together. Place a few rows in from the top and bottom of the point, ensureing they hold the bits of plastic that overlap together. They’re tough, made from recycled material (bottle tops and the like) and are fully recyclable. At the time of planting out or potting on, remove the green screw(s) and uncurl the pot to release the rootball. Re-make the pot; wash and reuse afterwards for more plants. litre plant is potted into a 12 litre pot, or 20 litre for a slightly longer life in its new pot before needing to be repotted. Airpot containers come in a huge range of sizes, so we can provide really large trees for sale or you can grow a tree in a larger pot at home. I am mightily impressed with all my dealings with you. The air pot in which the trees came was the best...the trees are simply stunning.

The smallest pot size available. Plants supplied are usually herbs and shrubs. Many hedging plants are sold this way, allowing you to grow a hedge on the cheap. Interestingly, 9cm refers to the pots diameter, as opposed to height. All pots smaller than 1L are listed this way, probably because receiving a 0.43L pot sounds a bit rubbish. Air Pots were invented in Australia during the 1970’s specifically for Eucalyptus. The clever engineering of the pot is designed to produce a safe and stable, radial root system – a bit like a baby’s bottle brush, with roots trained to emante from the root crown in a 360 degree formation. Not only does the unique pot shape prevent root circling (to which Eucalyptus are prone), but also promotes a healthy growing environment for your leafy friend. Eucalyptus grown in traditional smooth walled pots are a liability. The smooth walled pot has trained them to grow an unstable, congested and circular shaped root-system, which stays with them for life. These corkscrew-rooted Eucalyptus trees should only ever be grown to a maximum height of 10 feet (3m) as they are apt to fall over when around 20 years old or at the very least develop a nasty lean. Air-root-pruned Eucalyptus is the only way grow a successful specimen. Pot sizes vary a great deal and some species have to be grown in pots that are particularly deep or particularly wide so measurements aren't standard, but we've shown below the dimensions of the pots we use most frequently This is the first size standards are available at. Standards have a portion of the trunk cleared of stems for ornamental value. As you can see, the bushiness of the plant increases with the pot size and although the ones in larger pots are more expensive you don't need as many of them to fill the space (so sometimes plants in big pots work out cheaper than a higher quantity of plants in small pots), plus you also have the benefit of a fairly bushy immediate effect The standard size for 1-3 year old trees. Trees are transferred into this larger pot size, either from the ground or 3L pots.
