About this deal

In this gripping finale to Christelle Dabos’s bestselling Mirror Visitor quartet, Ophelia and Thorn finally uncover the truth that might help them solve the chaos in their universe of the arks. Les disparus du Clairdelune, Gallimard Jeunesse, Collection Romans Ado, 560p, 2015, ( ISBN 9782070661985)

I've shared my loving adoration of Ophelia, but I'll say again that I love how she jumped into this world that is everything she is not and is dealing with it. She is not in her natural habitat and that is what made her so great... Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. It has not influenced my opinions. Grande NO! Clever, daggy young Ophelia is living a happy, bookish life on an Ark named Anima. Her idyllic life is disrupted when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn inhabitant of a distant Ark. Ophelia slowly realises that she is a pawn in a dark political plot that will have far-reaching effects for her entire world. What Thorn and his Ark don't know is that Ophelia is gifted—and her hidden gifts give this misfit narrator secret powers I just loved this the second time around as well that I had to round my rating up! I just have so much love for Ophelia and Thorn ❤️French author Christelle Dabos, creates complex layered worlds, and an enthralling and intricate plot that moves at a fast pace with lots of twists. Readers have been completely drawn in by this richly imagined universe of the arks: floating celestial islands governed by the spirits of immortal ancestors. A great reread! I loved the world and enjoyed the characters of Ophelia, Foster and Gail. Might have to reread the second book now. Good,” Thorn grunted between his teeth. “Because I’ve never made such an effort not to be hated by someone.”

Les fiancés de l'hiver, Gallimard Jeunesse, Collection Hors Série, 528p, 2013, ( ISBN 9782070653768) A collection of oneshots for the Blaisius x Wolf ship, since I never see any works with them in them. I liked most of the book but not this: I would have liked for Ophelia to have a proper goodbye or spech with her uncle, aunt Rosaline and Berenilde, we never get to see more interaction between this characters, maybe ir ocurred behind the scenes but I would have liked to sew that, the same for Thorn, I would have liked a last “I love you” before dissapering, but anyway, it is what it is, a little more than that, even. ;) Though this book did feel a little bit like a filler, the ending set up some questions to leave readers grasping for the next book and UGH I just need it. And filler or no, I found the mystery really interesting and I just love these books so it’s not like I could ever find them boring. Whilst it probably is closer to 4 stars, the way this world and these characters occupy my mind makes me bump it up just that little bit more.

Press quotes

Now if you'd please stop acting like my review is "harming" a tremendously popular novel, it'd be great. Have a good day. This work is a translation of another work of mine, Honra e Prejuízo. I decided to translate it so that it could reach more people. Forgive my mistakes, but I did my best, even though English is not my mother tongue. Series

I come to appreciate Ophelia's godmother as much as she does, when she continually is outraged for her nieces sake! a mole, she is clumsy, and not very resourceful. However, she could have a few surprises in store for her close entourage… to begin with, for her fiancé. There’s positives and negatives to getting advance copies for review: you get the story early, yes, BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO WAIT LONGER FOR THE NEXT BOOK 😭😭😭 why didn’t I study French in school just so I could read this series in its original language fml

Really interesting, slow-paced story with lots of court intrigue and an unassuming yet resolute heroine in a bad situation. Content-wise, this is on the darker side, more than I expected, but it is set in a fascinating world and I quite liked it. As a consequence, Ophelia is now lunged into the public spotlight, as well as the behind of the scenes of Citaceleste, the floating capital of the Pole. Thorn and his aunt Berenilde can flay Ophelia with their minds... And Archibald, the ambassador, is mentally connected to his family! There is another clan all about illusions, and Ophelia gets up close and personal with one magical outfit! It's all deliciously dangerous... A fascinating world and magic system, bogged down by court intrigue and a main character that could have used more spice and distinctiveness

You have a review space. USE IT. Oh, and no, "you read it wrong" does not in fact equal constructive criticism. It doesn't prove anything, except that for some reason you can't let it go. It's been two years. Give it a break maybe? Dabos has created an unforgettable heroine and a rich and intriguing universe. For young adult or adult readers of Philip Pullman, J.K Rowling, Isobelle Carmody and Cornelia Funke
