Ishiguro came up with the manga when he was a university student. The story is based on the story of a race on a circuit, where the Earth is destroyed in the middle of the race, and the main character is about to die. For the title, he wanted to use wordplay to create ambiguity. Since character "heaven" will appear, he uses "heaven", but he also wanted to use "dai" in the middle and then added "hell". That wouldn't even be very difficult, because in the manga there are no colors, no sounds, you just have to make the right choices. If I were the director, I would also make some changes to the settings and the plot, so that the anime really managed to feel like it had an apocalyptic world.
