About this deal

Our new 1000 Pros represent the entry-level range at SVS. As usual with SVS, there is a choice of a closed model SB-1000 Pro and a bass reflex model PB-1000 Pro. The standard finish is foil ash, but the smaller closed SB-1000 Pro is also available in high-gloss lacquer for an additional Euros. It has turned out really small for a 12-inch subwoofer. The chassis takes up virtually the entire front, and the cabinet is built almost as small as possible around it so that the cube only measures about 33 centimeters side length. The PB-1000 Pro is more of a grown-up subwoofer. However, with a height of just under 47 centimeters, it’s not excessively large either. Beneath the 12 inch driver, it proudly displays two generous reflex tubes, which, for super low tuning, go under the enclosure lid with a 90° bend. The cabinets are neatly built and far better than the „entry level“ found elsewhere. We see solid MDF panels and internal bracing in the cabinets. As we mentioned above, the SVS SB-1000 Pro is capable of generating 325 watts of RMS power, and 800 peak. While that should be more than enough for most people, we would note that we did sometimes have trouble getting volume worked with our system. Either things were a little too soft, or too loud. There didn’t seem to be a middle ground.

Sophisticated 50Mhz High Resolution Analog Devices Audio DSP is the most advanced digital processor ever used in a subwoofer and maintains pristine sound quality through advanced in-room tuning, powerful DSP controls, custom presets, and more. High Current Output from Fully Discrete MOSFETs coupled with efficiency of Class D amplification allows the Sledge STA-325D amplifier to produce massive amounts of current enabling immense output with surgical precision. Once the receiver is connected successfully, set the phase control to zero and turn the volume up only 50% to test and make sure everything is properly equalized. SVS has always been synonymous with groundbreaking audio systems and uncompromised sound quality. Continuing on this trajectory, the SVS SB1000 Pro Subwoofer breaks new ground with its powerful performance, stunning aesthetics, and intuitive features. This versatile subwoofer is designed to serve both music enthusiasts and home theater aficionados alike. Experience a new level of immersive audio as the SVS SB1000 Pro Subwoofer elevates your listening experience to new heights. A Class-Leading PerformanceVariable port tuning modes with customized frequency response curves for “Standard” and “Sealed” allow tuning for maximum output or deep bass extension and transient speed. Available for Apple iOS and Android, the SVS control app gives armchair, precision control of your subwoofer. From the comfort of your listening position, you get access to all DSP functions including volume, EQ, low pass filter, phase, polarity, room gain, custom presets and system settings. Connecting via Bluetooth*, full control is possible even when the subwoofer is out of sight. *Please note, Bluetooth is for smartphone control app only. I am currently running the AVR into a Cambridge Minx but want to upgrade it. The minx is not good for music and does not pair well with my Elac DBR 62's.

PB-1000 Pro does make for a more lifelike experience. SVS PB-1000 Pro and SB-1000 Pro Subwoofers Conclusion The SB-1000 Pro subwoofer is part of the newly released 1000 series subwoofers from SVS, a company that has garnered a solid reputation in the subwoofer world. The cabinet, sealed design is excellent for keeping the sound tight. It doesn’t let it blast or boom unnecessarily and keeps the distortion to a minimum, unlike the SVS PB1000 which is a ported box design. Conclusion Breathtaking bass and stunning musicality from a compact 13-inch enclosure with state-of-the-art features that redefine subwoofer performance at their price and beyond. A true powerhouse with legendary pedigree that punches well above its class, the SB-1000 Pro subwoofer features a 325 watts RMS, 820+ watts peak power Sledge amplifier with fully discrete MOSFET output and sophisticated 50 MHz DSP for pristine, room-energizing bass. A reimagined 12-inch high-excursion driver takes control of a room with heart-pounding, tonally accurate low end for more immersive listening experiences. Also includes SVS subwoofer DSP smartphone app for convenient tuning and control. Conservatively rated at 325 watts RMS, 820+ watts peak power, the Sledge STA-325D amplifier maximizes the full potential of the 12-inch driver with effortless power and precise control. The innovative design combines the efficiency of a Class D amplifier with the ability to move colossal amounts of current through the fully discrete MOSFETs for outstanding real-world subwoofer performance at all drive levels, in any room, allows easy integration with any home theater or stereo speaker system.I also tried the room gain compensation feature, which can be handy to tame significant bass-response humps due to the room standing-wave resonances. The figure above showed the effects of engaging this feature at the available frequency roll-off points of 25, 31, and 40 Hz. Since I did not have a significant bass resonance in my room, the use of this feature actually hindered the deep-bass response extension. Hence, this feature should be used cautiously in situations where the room causes significant low-frequency bass boost. On top of that, the subwoofer also offers an adjustable three-band parametric equalizer and room gain compensation. These features are not something to brush over given that they are not commonly found in a subwoofer at this price point in the current market.
