About this deal

If you lose one plug or if the leash becomes worn, you don’t need to buy a pair and can just buy a single replacement. Of course, SurfEars are not the only brand producing ear plugs. Here are a few alternatives that are a bit more value based but offer similar features. They fit great and we have weirdly shaped ear canals as per our doctor. The varying sizes and sealing gels also help, as it means you can find a size that suits you. Some of the features that have been added to the new model include the color-coded plugs—making it easier to know which earpiece goes where—and the fact that you can detach the plugs from the leash.

After experiencing painful ears after surfing and other watersports over the last few years, especially in the winter, and having struggled with painful ears and infections, I decided to start using ear plugs as a preventative measure. SurfEars are pretty comfortable, with the wing sitting in your outer ear according to your preferred size as well as the best fitting seal. They also have minimal hearing interference, however I did find myself taking a plug out if trying to have a conversation in the line-up sometimes – a luxury not afforded with other plugs without a leash. Being able to hear other surfers, or friends you may be windsurfing, kitesurfing etc with is not only preferable, but important for everyone’s safety. Being able to chat in the line-up can be nice, and no one wants a collision! Sure, they could offer some kind of satisfaction guarantee policy, but such policies are not that common with earplugs. Summary: SurfEars 3.0 Review So, having used the new SurfEars 3.0 earplugs, the main question is – would I recommend them to you guys? Yes, without question.Of course, the “must not have been worn” clause is likely what’s angering a few customers, but it’s standard and it’s something you will find with all but the biggest of retailers.

What fuels us? A deep love for water sports and technical expertise that propels us to ensure SurfEars remains a cherished companion for surfers, divers, kayakers, kitesurfers, swimmers and many more. Every iteration of our product is meticulously crafted to offer matchless comfort, secure fit and the liberty to fully engage with your surroundings while pursuing your passion.Naohiro Swimming Earplugs are about as simple and as standard as the best surf earplugs get. The key thing about the design here is that the flanged stem has been dropped in favor of a simple twist-in plug that sits in the canal (the inner part of the ear). It’s a shape that suits some ears and doesn’t suit others. We’re the latter, but you’ve just gotta’ try them to see if they’re your sort of thing.

The biggest downside to the SurfEars 3.0 is the price. This is what I believe puts so many people off purchasing them – whether it be for surfing or any other water activity. However, having used them myself I can honestly say that the price is completely warranted. It would be great to hear your thoughts in the comments below. As always, be sure to follow on the usual socials below to keep up to date with the latest surfing content! They clean very easily. Just rinse them after a surf, dry them, keep them away from the sun and store them in a dry place. Problems with SurfEars 3.0If you want to wear earplugs and have the money to invest in the very best plugs on the market, then the SurfEars 3.0 are definitely the way to go. Ear infections are typically caused by water staying in the ear canal for a long time, providing a moist environment for bacteria. Surfers ear meanwhile is caused by ‘ exostosis’ – bony growth within the ear, caused by repeat exposure to cold wind and cold water. This can not only increase the chances of further ear infections but also cause loss of hearing and further pain. Leaving this too long can result in the need for surgery. They’re made out of some very high quality materials that make the product feel like a premium product

It is vital that your earplugs actually keep water out. If there isn’t a proper seal, water is likely to get in behind the plug and sit in your ear canal, which could cause the infections you’re trying to avoid in the first place. Wind is also a factor here to an extent. Mouldable plugs are often advised as a cheap, simple, disposable option and so I tried using these first, also being an occasional pool swimmer in the winter months. Whilst these are obviously comfortable as they squish to your ear shape, and form a waterproof and windproof seal in your ear easily, they are not suitable for anything other than pool swimming. I find that wearing them has not only completely stopped any ear infections, but also makes equalization easier too. They are so comfortable that I never really notice that they are in. So, if like me you have been suffering from ear issues or simply want to avoid them, I thoroughly recommend you consider some earplugs for whenever you are surfing or doing activities in the sea. This is especially important when the sea is colder than around 20 °C or you’re exposed to wind – i.e. pretty much all of the time in the UK – but it is good practice to use them all the time. Sometimes, deciding on the best earplugs for surfing is more about deciding on the shape of a plug than going for nifty tech. We know loads of guys who’ve struggled through in-ear plugs and modulable plugs, only to find that the only thing that really works is something heftier. Cue the Hearprotek. These have big arms that extend more than an inch, all the way to the roof of the ear for added support.

Our selection of the 5 best surf earplugs for 2021 can help stave over the dreaded surfer’s ear and get you out in the water for longer. Surf earplugs are a super important part of the kit these days. They’re there to prevent surfer’s ear, a phenomenon that sees the gradual expansion of the inner ear muscles and bones after excessive and regular exposure to cold air and H2O. It’s not a good thing. Victims can lose up to 90% of hearing. And the treatment is a drill taken down the ear canal. Ouch! We've introduced a protective rib underneath the mesh preventing it from being pushed inwards, We've also increased the total adhesive area and improved the adhesive compound for an increased product life span. Of course 3.0 enjoys the same great acoustic performance as our previous products, leaving hearing and balanced unaffected.
