About this deal

Brian K. Vaughan is the multiple Eisner and Harvey award winning writer known for his work on such comic books as Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, The Private Eye, We Stand on Guard, Paper Girls, and Saga. He has also written for hit TV series Lost, Marvel’s The Runaways, Stephen King’s Under the Dome, and the upcoming Prime Video TV adaption of Paper Girls. He lives in Los Angeles, Calif. The fourth Volume, which begins Book Two, establishes the family living on the planet Gardenia, with Alana acting in an underground entertainment program called the Open Circuit in which all the actors wear masks. Hazel is now speaking in simple phrases, while Prince Robot IV's son is born. [47] A disgruntled robot janitor, Dengo, kills Prince Robot IV's wife, kidnaps his infant son [48] and journeys to Gardenia, where he kidnaps the family. [49] Marko and Prince Robot IV team up with Yuma to pursue them. Meanwhile, The Brand teams with Gwendolyn and Sophie to acquire an elixir to heal The Will's injuries. [50]

Ratcliffe, Amy (April 26, 2013). "Felicia Day’s Character Wore An Awesome Saga T-Shirt On Supernatural". Fashionably Geek. I realized that making comics and making babies were kind of the same thing and if I could combine the two, it would be less boring if I set it in a crazy sci-fi fantasy universe and not just have anecdotes about diaper bags... I didn’t want to tell a Star Wars adventure with these noble heroes fighting an empire. These are people on the outskirts of the story who want out of this never-ending galactic war... I’m part of the generation that all we do is complain about the prequels and how they let us down... And if every one of us who complained about how the prequels didn’t live up to our expectations just would make our own sci-fi fantasy, then it would be a much better use of our time. Vaughan on the first SAGA collection". Comics Beat. The artwork by Fiona Staples is stunning. Her style is unique and dynamic, and she brings Vaughan's imaginative world to life with vivid colours and intricate details. The character designs are also impressive, with each species having their own distinct look and feel.

Fowle, Kyle (February 4, 2016). " The Big Bang Theory wastes a visit from the legendary Meemaw". A.V. Club. And grief, and loss, and love, and parenthood. And banter. And space genitals which my eyes can’t unsee. There's also some excellent use of narration. The story is being told by the fleeing couple's daughter, but the actual narration is used sparingly. There are little pieces of it woven into panels here and there, drawing your attention to certain themes and recurring elements as needed. I thought it added a lot to the story, and added a lot of emotional emphasis to certain scenes. The themes themselves were well written, and there are some interesting conversations about morally gray topics that take place between characters. a b "2014 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award Winners". It's a space romp that follows a fugitive family from their very first moments as such. There’s gruesome violence, explicit language and a large amount of gratuitous nudity, so it’s not one for the kiddy-winks no matter how aesthetically pleasing it may be. Melrose, Kevin (February 16, 2016). "'Saga's' Lying Cat is getting her own talking plushy (honest!)". Comic Book Resources. An unwieldy, profane, and glorious ode to compassion and equality… a sprawling tale that shuffles the beats of numerous genres, including pulp romance, road trip, Western, dark comedy, and political thriller.” — The Atlantic Which is not to say that there isn't lots to like here. The central characters are extremely endearing, and the sheer imagination involved in creating these disparate peoples, worlds and adventures is magnificent. We have intergalactic bounty-hunters, a race of television-headed royals, subaquatic journalists, hatching eggs the size of planets, lupine abortion clinics, and a dozen other things less easy to describe. Sometimes these coexist uneasily with a more terrestrial, even parochial idea of what constitutes Big Issues (corporal punishment is bad, trans rights are important, etc.), but on the whole the ambition is impressive.

Synopsis: two aliens - Alana and Marko - belong to two warring factions in a galactic war. Instead of murdering each other they decide to get together and procreate, creating baby Hazel, whose birth opens the series. Marko is a committed pacifist. Alana is a fan of a trashy space romance book - but a SUBVERSIVE one, clearly. And the entire universe is obsessed with killing this loving couple and getting their hands on the first cross-species baby. Still amazing graphics. Amazing little details which make perusing the artwork a worthwhile experience (that skeleton topped with a TV monitor head still makes me laugh). Robertson, Adi (April 9, 2013). And at the same time a new baby is thrown into the mix — a newly kidnapped royal Robot baby. Look at that adorable umbilical power cord! a b c Allen, Todd (March 12, 2012). It’s still full of delightfully dark humor. The banter continues. Planetoids hatch into creepy giant Space Oddyssey 2001-like fetuses. Thong-clad space brothel madams fail to keep a contracted killer from saving a six-year-old from sex slavery. There are monstrously sized space alien genitals (because why the hell not, apparently???).
