Like all adjustable razors, I don’t seem to get past only needing two settings, and I am happy with my go-to razors at the moment and use the Merkur 34C for mild-medium shaving and the Muhle R41 for shaving 4 days or more growth. I guess that setting one is similar to the Merkur 34C, and setting 6 is close to the Muhle R41, although there are differences. All in all I give the razor a 9 out of 10 for performance and feel and 4/10 for presentation and finish. This may take some practice, and most adjustable razors do take a little time to get used to and find the best setting. I received my Pearl Flexi last week and was quite impressed with it. I was so impressed that I pulled out my REX Ambassador to compare shaves with the two. Both of these razors are essentially homages to the great Gibbs #17 and they are modern CNC machined razors. There is another, the Homelike Taiga, which I have test shaved but was not impressed enough with to buy (sorry @Clouds, it just did not do it for me). For the Taiga, the shave was very good, however the pieces for the head were hard to align and easy to loosen. But more importantly the Parker adjustable safety razor may have opened the minds of other artisans and manufacturers to the possibility that the adjustable safety razor market was one worth considering. The Weishi Nostalgic Adjustable safety razor is the third of the triplets mentioned here and my favorite of the three. (note that there is a non-adjustable “Weishi Nostalgic” as well, so be sure to read product descriptions carefully). It seems to me that more thought was put into the design details this razor features.Although visually quite similar there are some aspects of the 2000S that set it apart from the Futur. This razor has a wider range of adjustment compared to the Futur, especially at the low end. And as you might expect at the price point, the Ming Shi/Qshave does “cut a few corners” in manufacturing. For example, the dial markings are painted on instead of etched in like the Futur. Some users report the printed dial numbers wear off after extended use. Let me start by saying any razor can be aggressive, either adjustable,3 piece,TTO,single edge. ..I introduced myself to wet shaving 5 years ago....My humble advice to you is to keep practicing your technique & gain your shaving confidence...I understand your urges to dive in and get those lovely looking razors i myself have four Adjustable razors Parker Variant, Weishi 2.0, +two, Ming Shi 2000s. (Merkur Futur Clones) they all provide me with excellent shaves, but all are very assertive and to use them you must have good technique & shaving confidence along with good preparation. With full WTG and ATG passes (and a chinward XTG pass along my jaw only, it’s a tight BBS result that I’d say is only a bit worse than the Ambassador around my chin, maybe because I continue to be wary of the slant’s blade angle. For the best price/performance ratio, I would give the nod to the Parker Variant. The Viking’s Blade Emperor “Meiji” version comes in a close second.
