About this deal

Summary: A noid light is a diagnostic tool used to test the electrical pulse signal sent to a fuel injector from an Electronic Control Module (ECM) in a vehicle. Making a noid light involves gathering the necessary materials and following a few steps to assemble the device. You will need an LED bulb, a resistor (approximately 220-ohm), a connector that matches your vehicle’s fuel injector harness, some electrical wire, heat shrink tubing, and a soldering iron. If the noid light stays on, with the key on or when cranking. Then, chances are wiring on the ground side of the circuit, is either shorted out (shorted to ground). Similarly, the driver inside the computer is bad and the computer may need to be replaced. Looks like I have the infamous adapter for the rotor. The push on distributor can't work with bolt on because the center pin is too far away and it has to shoot a bolt of lightning to reach causing it to burn up. Next, use the oscilloscope to find the injector’s switching frequency. This is typically around 5-15 kHz. Just replaced my heater core and will be uploading an updated short tutorial with pics to fill in the gaps with the other threads. Including dash removal...

Not sure how I had any spark coming out of this thing at all. It must've burned up the last bit of copper when I was testing ... this was the last thing I thought of because the previous owner told me he had replaced all of the ignition parts just before I bought the thing a little over a year ago. The coil I bought was for the 14v upgrade I believe. It’s a silver Bosch coil with an orange top. It’s ohms right out of the box was 6300. 300 more than the spec in the Bentley recommends. Its resistance between the pos and neg polls is also out of spec. Not sure if that will wear other things out down the road.

Incidentally, before I decided to put my own time and effort into this, we took it to a shop and they replaced one fuel injector (not sure which one they all look the same right now) and the also did a "clean fuel injectors by running the engine on pressurized injector detergent". So not sure if all the injectors are failing, clogging, etc. I have not done much research on reviving fuel injectors however I will if consensus is that I should either replace or repair fuel injector(s). When creating the circuit, use positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on the battery and LED light. Also, make sure that the switch is in the “off” position before connecting the battery. Step 3: Complete the Circuit: Locate the fuel injector that you are going to test and disconnect it, from its electrical connector. It is also possible to test the IAC on a noid light without removing it from the light. To do this, you will need to locate the two wires coming out of the IAC. What Does a Noid Light Test:

Making a homemade Noid light is a relatively simple process and only requires a few basic materials. The main materials needed are a 12-volt automotive light bulb, a 12-volt test light, and a 12-volt power source. The 12-volt light bulb is used to simulate the flashing of the Noid light and the 12-volt test light is used to detect the voltage from the fuel injector. To make a homemade Noid light, you will need a LED light, a 9V battery, a battery clip, two wires, electrical tape, and a connector for the EFI system. You will also need a pair of pliers, a soldering iron, and solder. How Do You Connect the Components? A Noid light is a simple and easy way to test a connector. It is a must-have tool for any electrician. What Is the Advantage of Efi Over a Carburetor? Find a suitable 12-volt bulb. This can be an LED, an incandescent bulb, or an automotive-style bulb. Finally, pulse the injector at the switching frequency. You should see a spike on the oscilloscope screen. If you don’t see a spike, your injector is not functioning properly. For this project, you will need a few basic supplies. You will need an LED light, some wire, a battery, and tape. Step 2: Create the Lighting Circuit: Making a homemade noid light is easy, and requires minimal materials. The basic items you need are a 12-volt bulb, a wire, and a male and female electrical connector. Once all the components are connected, turn the key to the on position in the vehicle. The Noid light should come on, indicating that the power is flowing properly. If the light does not come on, there may be a problem with the connection or the EFI system. What are Some Common Problems That Can Be Detected with a Noid Light?

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the fuel injector and connect the noid light to the connector. After that, power up the ignition by turning the vehicle’s ignition key to the “on” position without starting the engine. The noid light should start blinking, indicating that the injector is receiving electrical signals. Now, if the light did flash on and off, it’s always a good idea to test another fuel injector. In addition, to the one you just tested and compare both results. The first step is to set up your injector pulse test equipment. This includes an oscilloscope, an injector, and a ground clip. The ground clip should be attached to the car’s chassis, and the injector should be plugged into the oscilloscope. The next step is to create the lighting circuit. This will involve connecting the battery to the LED light and then connecting the LED light to the switch. Use a breadboard and jumper wires to create the circuit diagram.Keep in mind that when you are testing with an automotive noid light, this test won’t tell you if your injector has gone bad. Rather this will tell you if your ECU or PCM is sending the signals needed for your injector to work correctly. If you have a fuel injector not functioning correctly, you can test it with a screwdriver. First, remove the injector from the engine. Second, use the screwdriver to probe the four pins on the injector.

The Noid light has two metal probes that are inserted into a connector. A current is then applied, and the brightness of the light will indicate how good the connection is. This test should tell you whether or not your fuel injector harness is the problem behind your misfire. If your car does not start properly or starts slowly, this test can also help you identify whether or not the injectors should be firing properly. If the fuel injector harness does light up, this means that your injectors are receiving power from your ECU. This is the first step and the next step is to unplug the next injector and insert another light to see if the lighting pattern is similar. The first step in making a homemade Noid light is to connect the 12-volt light bulb to the 12-volt test light. This is done by connecting the positive wire of the test light to the positive wire of the light bulb and the negative wire of the test light to the negative wire of the light bulb. Once this is done, the 12-volt power source should be connected to the test light and light bulb. Testing the ConnectionNext, cut a piece of heat shrink tubing about 1 inch long and slip it over one end of the wire. Now, use a lighter to shrink the tubing until it’s about 1/4 inch in diameter. Next, do the same thing to the other end of the wire. Do Noid Lights Work on Diesel? Now, if the Noid light did flash ON and OFF, it's always a good idea to test the fuel injector connector next to the one you just tested and compare both results. If all is good, both connectors should make the Noid light flash in the exact same way. You can also use a 12-volt DC relay to control the noid light. This will allow you to turn it on and off from a remote location. A Noid light is a diagnostic tool used to test electronic fuel injection systems. It is used to diagnose problems in the electronic engine control system. The Noid light consists of an LED light which is connected to a power source and a connector which plugs into an EFI system. When the light is illuminated, it indicates that the system is working properly. If the light does not come on, it indicates a problem in the system.
