About this deal

This exciting news will be of great interest to budding amateurs and keen enthusiasts who’d like a smaller and lighter system for considerably less than it costs to make the jump up to a full frame Z-series model. To answer the question of what lenses the Z 50 will use, Nikon has also announced a pair of new DX-format Z mount zooms. We’re also glad to report that the Nikkor Z lens roadmap has been updated too, giving us a good indication of how the lineup of lenses will evolve in the near future. Nikon Z 50: Features The EN-EL15c and EN-EL15b Li-ion batteries that are used in the Z 5, Z 6/Z 6II, Z f, Z 7/Z 7II and Z 8 can be charged using the Anker PowerCore+ 26800 PD 45W power bank. Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery. Palm Trunk at Dawn, 7:01 AM, 05 December 2019. Nikon Z50, Nikon Z 50-250mm DX VR at 50mm at f/8 hand-held at one-quarter of a second at Auto ISO 100 ( LV 8.0), exactly as shot in square crop mode. bigger. To do this, set AF-C and All-Area AF [▆] as shown above, then tap the rear OK button. You'll see a gray square on the screen with four directional arrows.

When it comes to ergonomics, Nikon shooters will feel right at home with the Z50. First of all, the grip of the camera is deep and very comfortable, especially when comparing it to other cameras like Sony A6400, Fuji X-T30 and Canon EOS M6 II. And despite the big size of the Z-mount, Nikon left plenty of room between the mount and the grip to make the camera comfortable even for those with larger hands. Similar to other Nikon DSLRs, the grip is covered with textured rubber, providing great comfort when using the camera for extended periods of time. Here is the view of the top of the camera that shows the depth of the grip, as well as the minimal number of buttons and dials on the top of the camera: Similar options exist for movie shooting, although the Custom controls are grouped into a single menu item. Intervalometer and Time-Lapse Features Shoot with the all-auto settings I use and the Nikon Z50 does all this all by itself with no need to change any settings from shot to shot. The Nikon Z50 will shoot at the optimum ISO and shutter speed and aperture under every condition from daylight to moonlight for photos of things (U1) or photos of people (U2). Easy! More at U1 and U2. In movie mode Auto ISO is used in all exposure modes except 'M,' where it's optional. You cannot set the shutter speed threshold, but Exposure Comp is available, even in M mode. Batterythese are just snapshots and there are many more throughout the review; my real work is in my Gallery.) From the menu features standpoint, the Z50 is more advanced than both the D3500 and the D5600. Just like with all other Nikon cameras, it is neatly organized and easy to navigate through. Nikon took a minimalist approach to the menu, only providing the most important options for the camera. If you have previously used a Nikon DSLR or a mirrorless camera, you will feel right at home. NIKON Z 50 + NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR @ 20mm, ISO 200, 1/15, f/5.6 Customization Options

Right you are. This phenomenon is what I call "battery-o-mania," the flurry of partly very similar batteries from all manufacturers. We need lawmakers to mandate a standard, like the code mandating a standard power outlet. The UC-E24 will allow you to charge the battery in the camera while the camera is off. You will see a small red charge light turn on above the USB port on the camera body while charging. The light will turn off once the battery has been fully charged. Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body. The two Z mount DX lenses launched with the camera, the Nikon Z DX 16-50mm VR and the Nikon Z DX 50-250mm VR are both attractive choices for those who want to keep their camera kit small and lightweight, but for those who want more lens options, there are plenty of excellent Z-mount full-frame lenses already available, as well as older Nikon F lenses (both DX and FX) using the FTZ adapter. While testing out the camera, I purposefully limited myself to only the two DX kit zoom lenses the camera came with, so that I can demonstrate their capabilities and see if they are sufficient for most day-to-day needs of photographers. NIKON Z 50 + NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR @ 18.5mm, ISO 100, 3 sec, f/5.6Higher shutter speeds require you use a higher ISO, which makes the image softer. 1/500 to 1/1,000 stops sports and easily freezes fast-moving water. 1/125 stops people in anything other than sports. Don't use 1/2,000 or higher unless you really, really need to or have enough light to be shooting at ISO 100 — or need it to shoot at very large apertures at ISO 100 in daylight. Select AF areas automatically. I use this; it lets the Nikon Z50 figure out where to focus all by itself. Only if it can't figure it out by itself do I select:

You can update any of these modes by changing anything you like about them, then saving the result at MENU > SETUP MENU (wrench icon) > Save user settings > Save to U1 or U2 > Save Settings.

A small switch next to the mode dial jumps between stills and video modes. Separate exposure settings are maintained for the two modes (and other settings can be set separately, if you wish). The Z50 uses a 2.36M-dot OLED viewfinder. There are, of course, much higher resolution viewfinder panels now available, but this is pretty much standard for a camera of this price. These first appeared in the Nikon D850, and I have complete descriptions at how to use the D850's Auto White Balance modes. In addition to achieving incredible image quality, the new NIKKOR Z DX lenses are optimized for video capture when paired with the Z 50, making them must-haves for emerging content creators. Both lenses promise reduced focus breathing, a customizable control ring for smooth control of aperture or exposure compensation, as well as fast and quiet operation. Additionally, the new lenses offer in-lens optical Vibration Reduction (VR) technology to allow for smooth recording, with camera shake compensation equivalent to 4.5 stops3 and 5.0 stops3, respectively.
