As Muthy talks to www.asianculturevulture.com she gets very emotional, because she was brought up by her grandmother and she does feel “an eternal guilt that I was never able to save Nan from the depths of this vile and cruel illness.”

Nessah’s co-written 4 part thriller for Channel 5/Story Films has recently wrapped along with her episode of Grantchester (Series 9) for ITV/Kudos.

With my first child, I had awful thoughts thinking I might hurt my baby. It became so bad that I couldn’t bathe her and I didn’t want to change her nappy. I was petrified of being alone with her so I was always taking her to the library, to playgroups, to parties, like Maia does in the film, just to be around other people. It was exhausting. Written by award-winning Nessah Muthy and directed by Stef O’Driscoll How To Save The Planet When You’re A Young Carer and Broke peeks into the life of a young working-class carer having to make decisions between life-saving responsibilities at home and being dedicated to save the planet in times of climate emergency. Ken Nwosu as Sagramor, a fierce Numidian from Africa Nova and veteran of the old Roman army who has followed Arthur to Britain after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. [7] Anger turns into violence, and Grace is at the centre of it all. "This isn't hatred, it's love", she says, just as those activists she befriended turn away from her. Muthy doesn't let up, burdening each character with their own set of problems and, as a result, crams the 90 minutes with a non-stop barrage of exposition and sadness. In 2020, Daze’s efforts to support young people struggling with eco-anxiety led her to lobby the Royal College of Psychiatrists to recognize this issue. She conducted research and developed tools to help those affected by it. Additionally, she initiated a successful Judicial review against the UK government, compelling them to release a Net-Zero Strategy ahead of COP26. As a founding member of Extinction Rebellion’s youth branch, Daze has been a driving force for climate justice. She previously served as the Director and Creative Director of Earthrise Studio, a creative agency dedicated to communicating the climate crisis.

Sundowning’ is a play she has been developed over several years – and without the support of Helena Bell, artistic director of Kali Theatre, this show might have not reached our stage. There’s a very personal excavation [in the writing of the play] as a working class person. Why don’t I really see myself in an activist mode? Why does [climate activism] feel quite disconnecting to me?” Muthy came up with the idea for the piece when the horsemeat scandal broke. "It was very ferociously in the public consciousness. I wanted to look at the politics around the wider food industry – what we are eating, who we are eating, what's in the kitchen?" My husband was scared of going to work but he had to go to work, because I was on mat leave and we needed to pay the bills. Muthy nails the way sensory experiences can burst through the dementia haze… The temptation of the play is to look away. The strength of this play is that we cannot’
