About this deal

An even bigger version of the Cloud Up 2, the Cloud Up 3 is the first version of this tent that I would recommend for two people sharing. It has only a single door and vestibule but the additional floor space means that you can bring some of your kit into the tent with you. In terms of wind resistance, the Mongar 2 performs well in most conditions. The robust frame and strong guy lines will help resist any foul weather. Just try to pitch up by a natural barrier if you think a storm is rolling in. One of Naturehike’s technical tent offerings, the Mongar Ultralight 2-Person Tent first draws attention because it seems a close cousin of the well-regarded MSR Hubba Hubba. However, it comes in at a far more competitive price – one of its ‘best-selling’ points (excuse the pun) and makes it the recommended choice for those who need a lightweight tent for a wilderness trip. Besides its value-for-money, it’s a breeze to set up and comes in two fun colours, lime green and an eye-catching purple (as well as a soft grey for the more serious folk). But the Mongar is not just a pretty face (or cheap date for that matter). Exhibit A – The Mongar looking sexy (IG: @daniapea) Weight

High-quality fabrics: 20D rip-stop nylon with 7001 aluminum rod makes this tent rainproof, windproof and breathable.

I love that this tent has two doors because it really does transform your camping experience if you are sharing your tent. It also has sealed seams to protect you from the rain; these seams aren’t always present in Naturehike tents.

The “doors” have a wide, tapered design which makes for fairly easy access. They can be secured out of the way by means of a toggle. At the two ends of the tent – without doors – the rainfly doesn’t reach all the way to the ground. This provides constant ventilation. Also it presents a slight risk when it comes to waterproofing. One more reason to lay down the ground tarp before setting up the tent. The Footprint CONVENIENT and THOUGHTFUL DESIGN: The Mongar 2-person tent has 2 doors, one on each side, for easy access. The 2 vestibules provide larger storage space for gear than standard 2-person tents; Each of the vestibules can be fully or partially closed for desired air circulation and shade. The Naturehike Cloud Up has one door and one porch/vestibule positioned at the end. Whereas, the Star River and the Mongar have two doors. Therefore, if the tent is to be used by two people then either the Mongar or Star River is probably the best choice, allowing each person to have their own vestibule and door. Carrying Whether you are doing a short day walk or you are looking to do a longer expedition for a few days, the load carrying kit that you use to transport all your other gear can be the difference between making it to the end and cutting your trip short. Technical specs are the usual: 20d ripstop nylon with a PU4000mm waterproofness, 7001 aluminum poles, and stakes. The ventilation is a bit limited, and I would prefer to see a second vent to keep the interior nice and cool in the summer months. One solution is to pitch in the direction of the breeze, or you could take down your tent during the hottest part of the day to prevent heat from building up in the sleeping compartment. Naturehike frequently claims that its tents are suitable for 4 seasons. I disagree with this and would ask you to treat the products as 3 season tents for your safety. A little condensation does occur, but the vents and the possibility of slightly opening the access door while leaving the door mash close will solve the problem in any condition that is not too cold. Extra Vestibules: With 2 doors for easy access and 2 vestibules provides gear storage space;vestibule can be affixed to fully closed or partially open for ventilation and sun shade. The rainfly is coated only to 2000mm, which is half the water-resistance of the Taga 2. The Vik 1 is lighter than the Taga 2, though, and is a much better option for a solo camper. The MSR has more sophisticated fabric coatings which in theory should give better protection and longer life to the tent. Camping by a natural barrier does not mean you should camp under the only tree if lightning is forecast. Please use your common sense and keep yourself safe!) Durability With 4000mm+ of water resistance and 50+ UV protection, this tent will take good care of you in the summer as well as the wet and windy months. For the price, I have yet to find a better two-person tent for the great outdoors.

However, if you consider that this tent is affordable and comes with its groundsheet and stakes, its weight is pretty reasonable.

Weather resistance

Just like the Cloud Up 1, this tent is easy to set up, affordable, and reliable. You’ll be grateful for the extra floor space to spread out, but with only one door and vestibule, I’d recommend going for a different tent if two adults will be sharing the space. The Cloud Up has the least internal space. It has a more streamlined layout because it has a single end door/vestibule, with the tent itself also tapering towards the foot end. Sleeping Accessories All those things you all ways need when camping in the wild spares and extra things to make your stay a little easier
