Skin Friendly. If by some chance a blister does form under the tape, when you rip it off, the tape will not tear the roof off the blister and won't remove any skin. Wet Conditions. It will adhere securely and reliably to the skin on your feet, even under strain or if your feet are wet and sweaty. Leukotape is a type of sports tape that usually comes in a roll. Initially created for injury prevention and as a rehabilitation tape, it was used as a support adhesive to manage and provide stability to injured muscles and joints. Now, it is most commonly used as the first line in the fight against blisters.

To most non physios the most visible use of physio taping can be seen in the professional rugby field where it is common place to see heavily taped knees, elbows and thumbs. However, an ankle sprain is the most commonly occurring sports injury and it is not surprising that techniques such as the basket weave, stirrups and figure of 8 taping will be known to many amateur players and coaches. Your blisters rarely form right when you finish hiking. Most of the time you will need to continue hiking several miles on them. This is a super common problem with an easy fix. Leukotape K is similar to Kinesio Tape (or KT Tape) in that it stretches. It's great for athletes who need to maintain range of motion, but that stretch doesn't necessarily help prevent foot blisters. It's also .5 inches wider than Leukotape P, making it a little more difficult to place comfortably on your feet.Affordable. With the ability to last for several days, leukotape can save time and cost. Found at most drug stores. You have probably seen it on many runners and other athletes over the years. But today, seasoned hikers have jumped on the bandwagon. If you want to cover your whole foot, bend your foot pointing upwards and start at the base of the heel working your way up to just before your toes with overlapping strips. Add smaller strips for your toes then add a long strip from the inside of your foot to the outer side.

If you don't wish to carry around a big roll of leukotape, you can wrap a section around a hollowed out and cut-in-half writing pen or wrap some around a lighter. You could even cut strips and put them on plastic-based film sheets. It is important for speed of use that tapes should be easily torn and to that end many of our tapes have been designed with a serrated edge to make this easier. (Cotton tapes such as Vivotape and Mueller M Tape are easier to tear than Strappal or Leukotape P) Phase 1 of blistering is when a hot spot starts forming. This is usually when you start noticing signs of friction.

More Tips on Leukotape

It’s best to apply several hours before exercise if possible to get a really tight bond, but not strictly necessary. I’ve often applied it while hiking and then resumed my trip without mishap.
